Yup, that's a good ARM plug :) that sounds like a good rainy days project for me. But I don't know that I will start that or not.

Still prefer raspberry pi 3b+ unless on board flash (8gb better) is necessary

It still too much of a toy :) kiiding aside.. it is a really good desktop, but not a NAS, still no true Gbit ethernet, iirc.

the newplug seems to be based around the espressobin, so *should* be capable of debian out of the box
