sorry -not possible.

As identify.py said: "This in no known firmware!"
The dpf needs to be based on the Buildwin SDK for AX206.
This one is not.

Looks like one. BUT:: it's firmware is not based an the BuildWin AX203 SDK. Dpf-ax only supports dpfs based on this SDK.

None that I know of.

superelchi, do you work with libst2205 based devices at all? Just ran across a new one and was wondering if there is any hope for it.

Re: dpf-ax: unsupported dpf - requests

Dear all,

I wanted to update the hackfin firmware (flashed some years ago). However,I find no option for "usb connect". The display is recognized under Linux as well as Windows but without assigning a driver/letter:

Jul 17 10:39:20 karuna kernel: [14710.879019] usb 1-1.2: new full-speed USB device number 13 using ehci-pci
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna kernel: [14711.008597] usb 1-1.2: New USB device found, idVendor=1908, idProduct=0102
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna kernel: [14711.008601] usb 1-1.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=1
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna kernel: [14711.008603] usb 1-1.2: Product: USB-Display
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna kernel: [14711.008604] usb 1-1.2: Manufacturer: hackfin
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna kernel: [14711.008606] usb 1-1.2: SerialNumber: 0.1
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna mtp-probe: checking bus 1, device 13: "/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb1/1-1/1-1.2"
Jul 17 10:39:21 karuna mtp-probe: bus: 1, device: 13 was not an MTP device

under menu there are the options:

debug
M(?)on
Backlight
Flix
Exit
Off
Reboot

How can I enable usb-connect or how to get rid of the "delphin" at the beginning? I want to use it with PyDPF and a plain introscreen would be much better than the delphins. It would be just ok to replace the delphin with something else (self-made, plain, whatever).

Putting it into boot mode (press menu, hold it, press reset, release reset, release menu) it is recognized as:

Jul 17 10:45:10 karuna kernel: [15060.326520] usb 1-1.2: USB disconnect, device number 13

but no usb-connect... which is needed to flash(?).

And then - which firmware is the appropriate one? I downloaded the package from sourceforge https://sourceforge.net/projects/dpf-ax/files/ but do not understand which of the many ones is the right one for my aim (see above).

Thanks and best

...ok I found out reading old German postings that it is "usb0" if the display is in developer mode and not a sgX device or anything like that. Maybe this can be added to the readme, that an already hacked display can be accessed via usb0. Then, flashing the new firmware was straightforward. What does not work is flashing a splashscreen:

./setsplash.sh ./newpicture_320x240.jpg 320 240 usb0
Using ffmpeg pix_fmt rgb565
Splashfile saved to ./newpicture_320x240.320x240.rgb
Sending splashfile ./newpicture_320x240.320x240.rgb to flash...
Found AX206 DPF (bootloader)
Reading USB: Resource temporarily unavailable
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "splash2flash.py", line 33, in <module>
    data = d.readFlash(0x00, 0x80)
SystemError: 126:(ffffff92): Unknown error

[edited/ update]
..ok, finally it worked but the 'real' problem is unknown. 'setsplash' worked exactly as outlined above, but while flashing two identical displays with identical firmware, the procedure was not identical: one could be flashed in developer mode, the other in non-developer mode. One display was - let's say 'weak' - and after many changes of usb cables and ports it finally worked (in between a lot of 'Reading USB: Resource temporarily unavailable' errors appeared and at least 5-7 times the flash writing process stopped with only parts of the image being written). The other display worked out of the box while working in non-developer mode.

I assume that's just due to the quality of the display's embedded chips.

But the following models have partial signature matches: acme_7 bresser
One of these firmwares MAY work for your dpf.

The suggested fws don't work.

Thank You!

Hi superelchi,

Thank you for fw_acme_12. It doesn't work with the device: as with the others, flashing seems to go alright but after "Executing applet" the original applet starts.
Btw, dmsg output when in bootloader mode:

Do you mean that the original firmware is still active after flashing the custom fw?
How do you flash the fw? Linux or Windows?

Linux, latest dpf-ax-code from svn.
