check my link: you have to add a script running the flash-kernel command in the /etc/kernel/postinst.d directory and it will be called after a kernel update by dpkg/apt-get.by _Oscar_ - Debian
@heinz, I updated to the newest flash-kernel package but it doesn't run without the script I linked there: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,1820,1846#msg-1846by _Oscar_ - Debian
What did you change since the last successfull debian boot? Did you run 'apt-get upgrade' and you got a new kernel installed? Can you mount the usb device at all or is it broken? Try "screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200 8N1" - maybe minicom is waiting for some handshake (hope you got the correct wires and pins)by _Oscar_ - Debian
I don't know the bootloader internals.... but according to the uboot manual (http://www.denx.de/wiki/DULG/Manual) there is a sleep function available. So if you add a 'sleep 5;' in front of your bootcmd your drive gets more time to spin-up. I don't think these (25% wasted) 5 secs will matter.by _Oscar_ - Debian
If you use the debian kernel and trust the debian guys&girls (I do since potato, 10 years ago - and all problems I got was because I missed to run lilo after updating a few years ago) you can add the script (and install flash-kernel) and your DS will (don't blame me if it doesn't) reboot after apt-get installs a new kernel or udev or initrd. i don't get it.. it was running after updating udev, but NOT if I update the kernel: Setting up udev (163-1) ... echo linux-image-2.6.32-5-kirkwood hold | dpkg --set-selections should keep the update back. Maybe it would be better to tune apt somewhere to run flash-kernel like lilo after an kernel updateby _Oscar_ - Debian
Sorry, i didn't remember the point you need your internet to download Jeffs script to disable the software if you follow Jeffs howto :) the offline way is: * killall hbwd * mount -o remount,rw / * vi /etc/init.d/rcS press "i" (to get into insert mode) change the line "/etc/init.d/hbmgr.sh start" to "#/etc/init.d/hbmgr.sh start" and ":wq" (wrby _Oscar_ - Debian
