Hi! The only way that worked for me was to follow Vlad's instructions for creating a bootable USB-Stick. There's one thing that I did different, the kernel that I used was the one by Davygravy. After reverting my GoflexHome to Original Seagate Firmware, I had to update uBoot to be able to boot the Stick. I did it as described here. I tried to run Jeff's Script for installiby punxsutawney-phil - Debian
Hi I assume you have a GoFlexHome because of the link you put in your second post. If you ever want to go back to the stock firmware have a look at this: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,8416,8418#msg-8418 I f***ed up mine with installing Arch first and then trying to put debian on it with Jeffs Script fpr installing squeeze, so that no original parts of the seagate-firmware were presby punxsutawney-phil - Debian
Hi I am running Linux GoFlexNet 3.3.2-kirkwood-dg #1 Mon Apr 23 17:09:27 CDT 2012 armv5tel and noticed that newly copied files to my harddisks connected to my GoFlexNet (smb shares) had shown no date and time anymore in Windows-Explorer. They were set to 1970-01-01 ... The GoFlexNet has no HWCLOCK so it had to be ntpd that failed. Somwhere else on the net I found the advice to remove theby punxsutawney-phil - Debian
Oh, I missed the part where you write, that you've removed your uBoot environment and replaced it with the original one.. thought you can still boot from USB. In that case you can - in addition to optim's hint - read this thread. Or did you mean the default environment of the replacement (non-Seagate) uBoot? In this case the reset button trick to restore Seagate-firmware will nby punxsutawney-phil - uBoot
Are you sure, your Kernel can boot from SATA ? With my Goflex Net it din't work (even from USB the installation done by Jeff's script didn't boot). Now I have an 3.3.2 Kernel that works. When you try do boot from SATA with the Kernel installed by Jeffs script (install-debian-squeeze.sh) it is a 2.6 Kernel. I tried it the last two weeks - without success. Yes, you can. Get the uboot-mtd0-orig-goflexhome.kwb from http://goflex.scottn.us/ . As I read many of your posts, I'm sure you know how to write it to mtd0. After that you can flash the original Seagate Firmware with an FAT-formatted USB Stick an the hold-the-Reset-button-at-powerup-trick (as described at Seagate support) I did it that way - it worked flawlessly.
