Hello bodhi, I have a smiliar question / problem: there is a NSA325v2 with the latest uboot and debian from this forum that I would like to revert to stock. Unfortunately I do not have the backup of the old uboot anymore but have an identical device running the latest Zyxel stock firmware. Is it possible to dump the uboot and envs from this box and restore it in the other box ? what would be thby sebr - uBoot
I can confirm that if I disable WOL the system shuts down properly. Just strange that it appears after later kernel update. WOL has been enabled like forever (never used tho).by sebr - Debian
Thank for sorting this out bodhi. What WOL bug you talk about / will it be fixed in next kernel? I remember only the NAS326 had some trouble with the WOL. Never used the WOL function on NSA325 tho.by sebr - Debian
Recently my NSA325 start to hang for many minutes when I shutdown / reboot it. If I am not mistaken this started to occur after the last kernel update (4.17.2 --> 4.18.4). Output of serial console when shutdown/reboot is initiated: https://pastebin.com/LfyvFYn6 Any help is appreciated :)by sebr - Debian

Thanks for the hint! With noatime, nodiratime and big_writes I was able to improve speed for read and write to ~23MB/s! Now I will look through the SMB configuration. I wonder what Zyxel did to achieve the good performance...by sebr - Debian
Running latest debian on one of my NSA325 for many years but there is one thing that now really becomes a problem: USB3 performance with NTFS drive. Copy of large files to/from external HDD with NTFS format via network (SMB) is painfully slow with ~8 MB/s. With the internal disks (ext4) I achieve much better speed (read ~70MB/s, write ~50MB/s). So NTFS is the bottleneck. But with stock F/W froby sebr - Debian
Thanks very much bodhi, I remember now that is also the way the stock OS gets these values. :) I highly appreciate your work to provide a recent software for this hardware platform. Zyxel has never put any effort to keep things updated and now appear to have totally abandoned the NAS section.by sebr - Debian
how to read the current fanspeed and temperature(s) on NSA325?by sebr - Debian
A quick question: after installing this u-boot on a Zyxel NSA325, is it still possible to boot the stock OS? Or do you have to restore the backup of mtd0?by sebr - uBoot
Exactly, and the same with some additional Tweaks that I tried while testing socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=65536 SO_SNDBUF=65536 read raw = yes write raw = yes max xmit = 65535 dead time = 15 getwd cache = yes Also very strange that there are frequent heavy drops in the speed while copying the testfile. bodhi, what speeds do you get?by sebr - Debian

bodhi, I checked that already and trimmed my smb.conf according to the instructions. Also played around with socket options without any difference in terms of read or write speed. While testing the raw performance of the disk using dd and iperf for network I observed the system with htop and cpu was continously maxed out. I wonder if this is the normal behavior that raw disk I/O (dd) put such hby sebr - Debian
Could somebody pls give feedback about the SMB speeds that you guys get with the latest rootfs and kernel? Read AND write speed are ~60 MB/s only, with many ups and downs. Tested with an ext4 Volume on the internal bay and GBit Network. That is far below the file transfer speed with stock os. I have tried a few samba tweaks but that not made any big difference. Speed of the disks is not the liby sebr - Debian
Unfortunately WoL not working. No LED is staying on after issuing the poweroff command. Seems like PHY is shut down completely. None of the ethaddr found in u-boot is able to wake the box up. Also not the current one (Marvell default?).by sebr - Debian
Thank you very much :-) Unfortunately still no luck, see this Hit any key to stop autoboot: 3 2 1 0 NAND read: device 0 whole chip Attempt to read outside the flash area 0 bytes read: ERROR Booting from USB ... See attached logfile. I used kwboot that came with ubuntu (16.04 x86). There are no error messages it just spinning forever. But that is only a minor problem since I can connect via terminal to the device without issues.by sebr - Debian
Well I have decided to move from stock OS to debian on my NAS326 using Method "A" in the corresponding thread. But not luck, it keeps booting back to stock OS all the time. I have tried different USB Ports and different USB sticks as well without any success. rootfs has been extracted as root (not sudo). Also verified multiple times the envs being set correct. Hi, I am running latest stock OS V5.20(AAZF.1). WOL works, tho sometimes I have to send the wakeup command a few times. BUT in older firmware versions there have been massive problems with WOL, like not waking up at all or after wakeup link capped to 100 MBit/s maximum. If you need more info just let me know.by sebr - Debian

Just wanna confirm 'kirkwood-nsa310b-lmsensor-redusbled.dtb' works great on my NSA310. Hardware monitoring and all LEDs work as they should.by sebr - Debian
With the proper dts file for your variant of the NSA310 controlling the fanspeed works flawless. Just run sensors-detect and then configure with pwmconfig.by sebr - Debian
Yup, purged to perform a fresh start. But not help. There are files in /lib/modules/4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1/ but no directory named 'build' or 'source'. Also it is not possible to build a module.by sebr - Debian
Thanks for your answer. So I went ahead, removed both packages and re-installed the headers first: root@nsa310:~# dpkg -i linux-headers-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1_1.0_armel.deb Vormals nicht ausgewähltes Paket linux-headers-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1 wird gewählt. Thats the same model as mine then: lm85 and red USB LED. Would be nice if bodhi can provide a third variant of the dts file along with the next kernel release. So far I can live without the red USB LED but got the fan tamed :)by sebr - Debian
