Hi everyone, I am currently running OpenWRT on both my NSA325v2 devices but am wondering whether it is better to switch to OMV. I would like to add capability for a local cloud. Apart from that, I use it for local backups as well as streaming (direct file access via SSH/SFTP). Any recommendations? IS OMV more resource hungry or does it need a stronger CPU/more RAM than OpenWRT? Thankby AleXSR700 - uBoot
Quick question: is this only for NSA325 or also the NSA325v2?by AleXSR700 - uBoot
Thank you again for all the ground work! :) Has anybody ever experience the problem of not being able to halt boot sequence? I have tried Putty for Windows and Linux and Tera Term for Windows. I tried different flow settings. For some reason I can see in e.g. Putty that I pressed a key but the NAS just keeps booting until it runs into its old problem. P.S.: I am also discussing on OpenWRby AleXSR700 - uBoot
Hi everyone, this may sound like a weird question, but since my NSA325v2 won't boot anymore (was running just fine until last night), I wanted to run the unbrick procedure. But I can't figure out how to reboot the device at Quotepiserver@piserver:~ $ kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB1 -b u-boot.kwb -p Sending boot message. Please reboot the target.../ Normally I would pull theby AleXSR700 - uBoot
So, I wanted to give my feedback and hopefully this will help others in the future also. Situation: USB sticks were not recognized. TFTP did not work. kwboot did not work. Then came a recommendation by Mijzelf to check if the 5V for the USB was actually being supplied properly. So I added an active USB Hub in between so the USB stick was already powered externally and not through the boardby AleXSR700 - uBoot

No no, I was only running one terminal with one UART session. But when I saw that it was not working I figured I might as well not reboot or touch anything and simply open picocom to see if the connection is possible. And it was. So I then figured "what the heck", might as well keep the picocom alive and send the kwboot command in a second terminal just to see if the NAS is reactby AleXSR700 - uBoot
I tried and retried but I always get the same modem error. If I then, after then 20 tries with kwboot call the picocom without rebooting, the board recognizes the connection and starts a reboot. If I then stop the boot and go to uboot with picocom and in another terminal call the kwboot (with picocom wtill connected), I can see that the NSA325v2 receives the kwboot command because the screen imby AleXSR700 - uBoot
picocom worked straight out of the box. No problems. kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0 -b uboot.kwb -pby AleXSR700 - uBoot
I tried it and tried it to no avail :( Always the same message. Is there a way to stop the system e.g. via Putty at a point where kwboot would be able to start sending?by AleXSR700 - uBoot
Hello @daviddyer, thank you for the suggestion. Hello everyone, it might make sense to use this thread for my problem as this is the origin of the instructions and maybe someone has faced something similar. After unsuccessfully attempting to get my Zyxel NSA325v2 to read any USB device or connect to a TFTP server, I wanted to try to use kwboot to flash a new uboot (currently still Zyxel stock). My original thread: https://forum.doozan.cby AleXSR700 - uBoot
Thank you @bodhi! I will try kwboot now, but I am either doing something wrong or something is no longer working. I am running a RPi 4 with 8 GB, Raspian OS 64-bit. So, device is still working, however, I have had absolutely no luck getting the u-boot flashed. I have tried all my usb sticks and none seem to work. Not even the ones I used to use as swap on old Linux sat receivers. TFTP servers also do not work (Tried 3 different ones). Just keeps to download but abort because it cannot connect/download. Anybody have any ideas?by AleXSR700 - uBoot
Then let's hope I did not fry my serial port because I attached the 3.3V as per the scheme on the OpenWRT Wiki. That is not a smart picture or instruction then. Especially given that it states you need 3.3V but then you don't use it. I will try it this evening after work. Most other devices (non NAS) need the 3.3V as power supply because they are flashed without mains connectionby AleXSR700 - uBoot
Hello everyone, my new FTDI adapter arrived and I tested it on a smart socket and it works nicely. So next I wanted to tackle my NSA325v2 and maybe I am thinking to complex but are not all steps performed via the usb to serial connection? Because the OpenWRT instructions basically start by booting into u-boot, but there is no description on how to do that. I tried simply using my serial conby AleXSR700 - uBoot
Thank you @bodhi! If OpenWRT fits on the NAND, I might consider doing that. I am a bit afraid to lose all functionality if my USB stick dies and I do not want to keep my HDDs awake. One NAS is storage only and the other NAS has only one HDD that is regularly used. What is the difference between uboot.2017.07-tld-1.nsa325.bodhi.tar and the uboot from OpenWRT? OpenWRT seems newer, but is it rby AleXSR700 - uBoot
Hello everyone, I would like to give OpenWRT or maybe Debian a try on my NAS from Zyxel (NSA325v2). According to the instructions (https://openwrt.org/toh/zyxel/nsa325 1), the u-boot.kwb from 19.x.x release is bugged and won't allow access to any mass storage, so it is recommended to use the latest 18.x.x version. Now, I hope someone can help me with one or two questions I have: - Isby AleXSR700 - uBoot
