Hi, Id kindly ask for explaining in detail role of above. Suppose default uEnv.txt of 'install' USB would vary from those on targettransfered/ HDD rootfs? Below default uEnv.txt: bootdev=usb device=0:1 devices=usb set_bootargs=setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=LABEL=rootfs rootdelay=10 $mtdparts $custom_paramsby zebe - Debian
Thank you very much ! Ps. Just tried with SSD on USB adapter/instead of USB stick/ but didnt work so far..- plan to set rootfs on SSD /1st bay/ and hdd for Data on the other bay of NSA325.by zebe - Debian
bodhi Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- (....) > > 3. Create a USB rootfs (....) Ok, thanx,I am in. Unfortunately evan after restoring dhcp-still no network on the box. Actually i cannot effectively chroot into box's hdd rootfs. I d greatly appreciate some consistent procedure also re wiki/links to existing/: how to: 1. prepare needed hdd setup/by zebe - Debian
hello, Bodhi So-answering: 1. Do you have serial console connected? 2. What u-boot version is installed currently? is it 2017.07-tld-1 from the release thread? 3. Is the rootfs on one of the HDDs, or is it on USB drive? (I can guess it is on HDD, just want to be sure). Ad. 1 Not anymore, already disconnected and assembled after primary flashing from stock Ad. 2. most probably 2017.07-thby zebe - Debian
Hi guys, Having updated my 325 V2 to 6.4.11 kernel /not uboot yet/ i was trying to set static IP, after reboot lost access-got CONNECTION REFUSED on SSH. Where /how should i work to restore access to the box?by zebe - Debian
Hi. Been through WIKI, VNC gives me black screen, whatever i do. Are you able to recommend any proven, WORKING solution to xfce/lxd and vnc link to NSA325 device?by zebe - Debian
OK. Since XFCE/Vnc from WIKI does not seem to work, Id try to research VNC server additonally - - root account has to be the only ne on NSA325? No USER account /and sudo additonally/ needed eventually ?by zebe - Debian
Cool. Many thanks for immediate, essential support ;) Ps. 1) Is there on Debian anything eg like default Zyxel's Web GUI to such devices? 2) Default root's password - 'root' can be altered or MUST BE such ?by zebe - Debian
OK, we re home. Working )) Only xfce4 via VNC does not seem to cooperate and buttons/leds/beeps would need some fine tuning... Btw Can you recommend any working-proven OpenMediaVault wiki ?? or maybe NFS/CIFS wiki to have disk shares auto-visible upon pluggin to LAN? /Linux/PC/by zebe - Debian
hi. Copied renamed uboot-sth.. into Env.txt and onto USB's rootfs, changed kirkwood-pogo_e02.dtb into ...._nsa325.dtb and within .dtb as well, still SSH refused after booting. Just pulled out HDD and booting primary USB and SSH link works...and hot-plugging HDD also maps hdd partitions to /dev/sdb so...would you kindly point me to correct procedure of preparing HDD now ? ;) Btw. Hi. Generally ive followed inverted procedure you described already/excatly as above indicated/: Backup/Restore rootfs using tar command hdd->usb, i created tar.bz2 image of whole rootsfs then copied as root, only /boot content copied to another/mapped hdd partition/ 'alive'./no udev rules adjusting though/.Btw same way i prepared WORKING usb AND in arch linux i can only 'suby zebe - Debian
Ok, thx. So far my hdd is: sda1 - /boot "boot" sda2 - / "rootfs" sda3 - swap sda4 - Data, for further sharing. As to envs: afair you mentione at uboot stage that hdd is just second boot defined if usb not plugged, anyway?by zebe - Debian
Thank you. Iam nearly home. Although xfce vnc does not seem to work through Remmina in ArchLinux-sure needs some tune up., BUT: Id ask you kindly for some additional hint - I tried to move installation from my primary USB on HDD: boot, rootfs, swap, Data partitions, but does not seem to work afterwards - only orange flashing led.. Hi, thanks for further explanations. Ive put proper source into sources.list but it gives abovementioned error anyway. Ive ubstalled also libubootenv-tool etc /noticed that remark earlier/. Would you advice: should ssh/telnet console or other means be used to communicate with NSA325 after disconnecting serial link? /which has to be removed now-Id like to re-assembly all that stuff eventually aby zebe - Debian
Btw dont know why but my system boots with ....pogo_e02.dts ?! UPDATE: Thank you, MASTER )) ! Ps. ONly debian-security.org repo gives me error and gets disabled. Whats the right repo for now?by zebe - Debian
hi, Iam working w/screen/PC Arch Linux/ so far but the log does not comprise all the output...; Btw I did NOT put MAC into new envs but-afaik-you stated it was not necessary at uboot stage. uBoot recognizes egiga0, kernel loads MV643xx eth port, tried to mess with /etc/network/interfaces but eventually no eth at all and I can neither make WLAN on rt2800usb - some firmware needed /a bit awkwaby zebe - Debian
The envs are not good. Looks messed up! not sure if it is an artifact of how you copy the log or they actually messed up. QuoteLooks uEnv.txt is missing. That's OK. It's always missing until you use this feature. QuotePlease be so kind to advice how to interrupt console and get boot output?? Ok, thx. A little off-top: further described procedure tells to upgrade/amend some files, that requires internet link of course. Is -at that stage-any other option to make it networked except eth cabling to some router /wifi adapter on Zyxel's usb maybe?/by zebe - Debian

Hello ,guys! Iam new to this forum but not quite new to experimenting w/hardware ;) Ive been just in process of 'debianization' on my Zyxel NSA 325, flashed uboot w/kwboot - as per Bodhi's instructions BUT I have not prepared new kernel/boot files while on default uboot...
