Would you believe there's another MythTV bug caused by the current A10 kernel? Mythfrontend connects fine to other MythTV backends as root, but you must be root to use mythfrontend with the local backend. . . Go figure. . . Most A10 devices use an internal USB RTL8192cu Wifi adapter board. A picture of it is at this page in the top picture. The wifi module is just below the battery to the left of the gold flex connector going to the LCD. The wifi is designed for a battery powered portable tablet. Therefore the kernel driver module uses a power save mode to disable the wifi when not in use. That is all nice and woby gnexus - Allwinner A10

QuoteIs there a link for the 2GB and the 8GB versions? Also what's wrong with the drivers delivered by Mali? Why nobody has been compiling these to have GPU acceleration? I'm still working on the Ubuntu 2GB and the 8GB versions. Currently, getting the Debian Sid armhf SD image completed is my highest priority, as currently it has much improved performance over the Ubuntu. Edit:by gnexus - Allwinner A10
Ok guys. I know this is what you all have been waiting for. . . So here it is! Available also at http://a10linux.org (it is the same page) If the video does not display then try another browser. Firefox worked for me when the page resided on my server. Now with it on Jeff's site Firefox doesn't stream it, but Konqueror does. I don't know what could cause that problem. I have Mythfrontend playing video smoothly now from my GoFlex Net mythbackend! It is playing in a 480x320 window. Audio works fine. The video is almost perfect, but the hdmi audio pops occasionally. Overall it is perfectly usable except for not being fullscreen. I am going to include the MythTV packages on my Debian Sid SD image so people can test it and hopefully improve it. MythTV is now working very nicely for me on the A10. Both mythbackend and frontend are now running on it, and I can play videos, music, and recorded tv. The frontend needs to use a windowed mode, however, due to the lack of VPU drivers. There are other issues as well: DVB and v4l drivers are missing from the kernel, so tv cards do not work yet mythweb cannot access mythbackend due to the kenelby gnexus - Allwinner A10
Mythbackend runs fine on the A10 once I got the mysql working and a mythconverg database imported. Mythweb is also working now on the the A10 using nginx and php5-fpm. Next I'm going to try connecting a USB tuner to the A10 and recording a short TV show. It will be interesting to see what happens during playback with both mythbackend and mythfrontend running at the same time. Weby gnexus - Debian

I just now got it all set up on my new Sid install! Right now I am watching in f/s a low-res video from the Mythbackend also on the A10! The video is a bit choppy, but the audio is smooth. Earlier I was watching a recording from my Mythbackend which is hosted on a GoFlex Net. The frontend settings still need to be optimized for the lack of video hardware acceleration. This is really AWESOME! :) I have now, at this moment, get this - Mythfrontend playing back a recording from my GoFlex-hosted MythTV backend! No sound yet. It was a major PITA to get going. But now it finally works! I'm glad to be able to get rid of Ubuntu on there. I think we all know about the pi by now. . . :P The pi is ARMv5tel like Kirkwood. If we are buying something new why should we get ARMv5tel instead of much faster ARMv7? We need install scripts for u-boot, the kernel, and a basic debian rootfs. Currently you can download the large SD images, or the individual files. But it would save bandwidth, and be easier for users, to simply d/l a small script to their A10 device and go from there. The A10 boots from USB as the last device on the boot chain after the SD card and NAND. However, it boots directly to USB if the recovery button has been pressed. That is what allows you to load an new image to the flash from LiveSuit. If there is a way to permanently enable recovery mode then it may be possible to always boot from USB.
