Can someone has the original DP-152 firmware image share the file with me? In the process of trying to hack mine, I think I lost the original firmware image. Even though I have downloaded the DP-152 configures and rebuilt hack, the script does not see my unit as DP-152.by funtoy1001 - Displays
I use my DockStar mainly as a torrent seedbox under Debian Squeeze. Besides rtorrent, I also have sabnzbplus, samba, apache and other support aps for them. Recently, I add Asterisk 1.8 to DockStar so I can use GTalk for free calls within US (and Canada?). Most of the time, I think the unit can handles all the tasks, but I am not so sure during post processing by sabnzbplus to unrar/unzip whole buby funtoy1001 - Debian

Not as "cheap" as buydig but it is available... Beach Camera (not BeachAudio) has it for $39.95 http://www.beachcamera.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SESTDSA10GRK They also sell it for the same price on e bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Seagate-FreeAgent-DockStar-Network-Adapter-STDSA10G-RK-/300514518789?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f80fa705by funtoy1001 - Debian
Thanks. I tried what you posted and it is pretty fast. Took about 20 minutes for my 3.6 GB USB stick.by funtoy1001 - Debian
I have Debian running fine on a USB stick. Currently, I have to remove the USB stick and use dd on my desktop when I want to do an image backup. Are there issues if I do dd on the DockStar itself? I know it is going to be slow but I can set it up so the image back up is done during "middle of the night".by funtoy1001 - Debian

If the DockStar takes 10.8.0.1, what about rest of the machines on my home network? Do I access them with their 192.168.1.xxx address or do they take on 10.8.0.xxx?by funtoy1001 - Debian
More semi-off topic questions. If I install this, can I ssh into my DockStar remotely? What IP address will the DockStar have?by funtoy1001 - Debian
Semi-off topic. Do you run ddclient or something similar on the DockStar to keep your IP address up to date?by funtoy1001 - Debian
I ordered one on the 28th and they shipped on the 28th. Even though both BeachAudio and I are in Calif, they ship my order from NJ. Should be here next week.by funtoy1001 - Debian

It was good while it last. The one with "over 190" ended their auction. At least I got one from BeachAudio.by funtoy1001 - Debian

Don't know if this the right way. I did another Debian install with Jeff's script and copied all the files under /boot to my working USB stick. The stick booted up and dmesg sees my USB printer now. With p910nd, I am able to share the printer will all the machines on my network. Still wonder why the upgraded kernel's dmesg doesn't see my printer and lsmod only lists 4 moduby funtoy1001 - Debian
I installed Debian Squeeze using Jeff's script and updated with the kernel per instructions at http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,582 . Because dmesg does not see my USB printer, I want to see if this is related to the kernel. The question is how to go about downgrade the kernel back to the original one? How do I go about using the DockStar as a print server? I don't really need to print from Debian, just to have the printer available for Win machines on the same network. The howto's I found from Google talk about adding printer driver for the printer to debian and create a share for the printer. I would think it should be easier than that if I don't need to print from Debian.by funtoy1001 - Debian
Thanks. Now I am sure what my problem is. I did 1) a fresh install of debian on a usb stick on my pogoplug and verify it will boot up and working. 2) DD my working dockstar USB stick to my pogoplug USB stick on my ubuntu desktop 3) edit the two lines so it won't detect different MAC 4) plug it to the pogoplug and I can't SSH to it. The front light is off all the time.by funtoy1001 - Debian
Thanks. By the way, does the pogoplug have a reset switch?by funtoy1001 - Debian
Thanks. Looks like I have another problem. It doesn't look like this kernel can be used on pogoplug.by funtoy1001 - Debian
Early in this thead (page 2), twinclouds was saying Debian squeeze will check the MAC of the network interrace. If it detecs the MAC has changed, it will assign it as eth1. Does this mean I can't move the USB stick from one machine to another?by funtoy1001 - Debian
Semi-off topic... I plug my working USB stick from my dockstar to a pogoplug but it doesn't boot up. Is there a reset switch on the pogoplug I can try warm start?by funtoy1001 - Debian
I have apache2 running under debian squeeze on a Seagate DockStar of a USB flash drive. To reduce the wear on the USB stick, I want to move all log files to RAM. What I did was created an entry in /etc/fstab to mount /var/log to tmpfs. Things seems to work except apache2. When I manually start apache2, it complains about: Starting web server: apache2(2)No such file or directory: apache2: could nby funtoy1001 - Debian
