OK, it seems that windows 7 has some stringent security that blocks almost everything except other windows 7 boxes unless you get deep into the settings pages. I cna now access my box, but only via IP address. I cannot see the hostname of the box on the network. Can anyone tell me how to broadcast the machines hostname so I don't have to keep a static IP? Also, I still have no figureby optim - Rescue System
I have this setup and booting.but I cannot see the network shares on my network anywhere. All of my machines are Win7 (if that matters) with no homegroup active. I tried to use map network drive but that did not work. Also I cannot seem to make the system set the time on its own. I changed TZ like mentioned above but it still does not set the time. Any help would be appreciated.by optim - Rescue System
Will this work on an MK802+ ? Also if it does will it use the full 1G of ram?by optim - Allwinner A10
I am going to link to an old post with my environment. It is designed to do what you want. Boot HDD unless USB is plugged in. The only thing is you need the USB to be named rootfs for it to boot. Click Hereby optim - uBoot
They list it as an MK802+ (I thought the ones with new voltage reg was MK802 II). Comes with a free USB 'spider' hub and USB sound thing. All for $39.99 shipped. Link Hereby optim - Allwinner A10
Here was a post I used after I got through the ordeal you are having (not the MAC address one, the booting one). Good luck. Click Here You can ignore my swap concerns at the end. I was/am still learning Linux.by optim - uBoot
In case anyone doesn't want to search through many pages to find out. (and none of those linked in the post you pointed to say so). The A13 is an A10 without SATA and HDMI.by optim - Allwinner A10
What is the difference between Allwinner A10 and Allwinner A13? Just trying to find some info on the A13. Thanksby optim - Allwinner A10
I use arcNumber=2097 for my dockstar. Although if you try to use a number that your kernel doesn't support it may not work.by optim - Debian
I was not able to get any version to work for incoming calls via google voice. I believe I had one successful incoming call ever. Maybe I will try again with a clean slate of config files and only change my login and password.by optim - Debian
Isn't the Allwinner A13 a worse chip than the Allwinner A10? If that is the case, none of the items you listed is what we are looking for.by optim - Allwinner A10

Are there any benchmark programs out there that we can use to compare the speed of some of these devices we play with? I am intrigued by the Alwinner A10's but would like a general idea of how much faster it is than some of the other devices. Also I am interested in how these perform while using an HD vs USB stick vs SD card. I think a nice comparison would be helpful for all, we jusby optim - Off-Topic

Never Mind. I had typed the environment variable in wrong. It is now mounting as ext3. Stiil wondering if I should remove the 'errors=remount-ro" setting though.by optim - Debian
I just tried doing this to change my HD on a GoFlex home to ext3, but mount is still reporting this as ext2. fstab: # /etc/fstab: static file system information. # # <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass> /dev/root / ext3 noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1 /dev/sda2 none swap swby optim - Debian

http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,6965 Im not sure if you have a serial cable yet or not. For the usb cable I bought 2 of These and once I found the right driver and did a little soldering they worked great. I also bought a bunch of These and installed one right in the box, and put a standard mini stereo headphone jack (from radio shack) on the end of the wire and can serial in whenever Iby optim - uBoot
IF you have the original uBoot still installed http://support.goflexhome.hipserv.com/en/reflash/index.html this will put it back to factory fresh and you can start over. If not, you will need a serial connection to grab control of it.by optim - uBoot
This sounds a bit like what I did to mine. If you have the original uBoot installed you can recover. Read through the thread HERE and follow the directions about resetting the GFH to factory and starting over. I eventually installed serial connections to mine. This makes the whole project much easier. It is not necessary though.by optim - uBoot

Hmm mine looks functionally identical to yours. Have you had to change anything (there is supposed to be a fix adding a pause) to have calls not go directly to voicemail? There was something about changing a pause from 2 to 8. The problem I am seeing is exactly as those folks described. The problem is they were using a file called extensions_custom.conf which I do not have.by optim - Debian
Can I see you extensions.conf? I now have incoming calls, but even when I pick up the phone, the caller goes right to voicemail. I have seen a "fix" that requires something in extensions_custom.conf but I do not have that file. Is that loaded by default or would it be an include file? Thanks.by optim - Debian
Awesome Jeff. Maybe also put an 'other' section for folks to see what stuff others wind up playing with.by optim - Debian

ok lets try another..... This one actually I did not modify other than by your line in the installation instructions, so I still have the tollfree stuff active that probably does not work and I have not changed the are code of calls.
