@iSKUNK! your changes look good, thank you! The sources for the script are up on github: https://github.com/doozan/DebianInstaller If you send me a pull request, I'll happily merge in your changes and the you'll have the appropriate git changelog attribution.by Jeff - Debian
> Is that any way to get the Mele version (1.7, ecc) > from os command? There are no tools to do this yet, but it should be possible to build a script that could extract and decompile the system.bin from the nand and look for values that are unique to each mele revision. If script.bin does not have unique values then script could compare the md5 hash of the nand bootloader files againsby Jeff - Allwinner A10
I can speak only for myself, but I am deeply grateful for the that Henrik, Alejandro, and Tom Cubie have done regarding the A10 platform. Without their work none of this would be possible. While we may each have separate projects and goals, I think everyone shares a desire to see the platform succeed. I think it would be wise to focus on the platform's success and be respectful of the faby Jeff - Allwinner A10
Yes. If the power switch is left in the on position, the device will still turn on and off when the power supply is connected/disconnected.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
Thanks for posting that guillame. It looks like it's just one config patch on top of the lichee-dev-ICS branch. To save anyone else having to download the entire archive, I've attached the patch to this post. git checkout https://github.com/hno/uboot-allwinner.git git checkout -b lichee/lichee-dev-ICS wget http://forum.doozan.com/file.php?6,file=219,download=1 -O 0001-Enabled-tby Jeff - Allwinner A10
I installed it successfully some time ago using the following: wget http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/7.6/sc/31209/squeezeboxserver_7.6.0~31209_all.deb apt-get install perl perl-modules libdb4.7 libgdbm3 dpkg -i squeezeboxserver_7.6.0~31209_all.deb That nightly was the latest when I did the installation and I haven't had any need to update. The xbmc cedar project looks promising and I think that any mainstream support for the platform will be tied to the success of that project. And while there are many other promising and emerging platforms, If you don't need solid display drivers the a10 still makes an inexpensive and useful hobby platform. Feel free to continue any a10 related discussions here. If anyone needs hosting fby Jeff - Allwinner A10
udev is detecting that you have a new Ethernet adapter and is assigning it to eth1 rather than eth0. If you've just moving the device once, you can delete /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules and it will be regenerated with the new Ethernet adapter as eth0 If you're swapping the stick back and forth, you'll want to edit that file instead and add a wildcard for the Ethernby Jeff - Debian
script.bin is system.bin and the rescue system already copied it your sdcard as /sysconfig/system.bin There's no standard naming system, so it looks for anything named system.bin or script.bin. So it looks like you're already using the correct file. I don't know why the LCD display is not working for you.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
The rescue image should automatically extract your system.bin from nanda and copy it to the /sysconfig directory on your sdcard. If you don't see system.bin in there, check the logs in /sysconfig/log/by Jeff - Allwinner A10
The a10linux / uboot-multi-allwinner github page states it as being forked from hno/uboot-allwinner so it's pretty easy to see how someone could get that impression.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
You'll need to set the device ip and the server ip address before using tftp, but otherwise your process looks sound.by Jeff - Debian
Just a quick update to make x11 use the mali drivers. This is still missing most hardware acceleration, so don't expect to see any performance increase. I've also bumped the kernel to 3.0.39, with the fbcon module installed. It crashes on my system whenever I try to load it with modprobe, but I left it in there because I suspect it could just be a problem with having to load modulesby Jeff - Allwinner A10
Thanks for catching that, I've updated the repo with the correct config.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
Go with option c, but boot from the RAM based rescue: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?4,1871 It shouldn't be a problem to swap the USB drive at that point.by Jeff - Debian
I've added some scripts to make building the image easier. cd ~/src wget http://buildroot.uclibc.org/downloads/buildroot-2012.05.tar.gz tar -xzvf buildroot-2012.05.tar.gz cd buildroot-2012.05 git clone https://github.com/doozan/a10-rescue.git custom cd custom git checkout v1.3 cd .. cp custom/buildroot-config .config make sudo custom/make_image.shby Jeff - Allwinner A10
I've updated the rescue system to 1.3 with support for the framebuffer console. This should give you a graphical shell when you boot your device. By default the display is on your devices' primary display (lcd or hdmi) but you can override the output by editing /rescue/init-display.sh This is a bootable image for the A10 systems. When this image is written to an empty flash card,by Jeff - Allwinner A10
Thanks for pointing that out. I took a crack a fixing fbcon a few weeks ago but without any luck. If that patch works, I'll gladly merge it into the rescue system.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
You should be able to do that. I haven't tried it myself. The nand partitions show up in /dev as nanda through nandh and if you don't want to alter the partition table, you can just install debian to whichever partition is largest and configure uboot to load from that device.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
There was a glitch in the rescue image that broke dhcp. You can grab the 1.2.1 image, or make a quick edit by hand: The first line of file /rescue/interfaces reads "onfigure networking" where it should read "# Configure networking"by Jeff - Allwinner A10
Thanks for pointing that out, for some reason it was right in the repo but wrong on my working copy. I've rebuilt the image and uploaded it as 1.2.1.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
Try flashing the rescue system to an empty SD card and then try booting with that. You may not see anything on the screen, but if it's able to boot, it will write some logs to the SD card and you may be able to access it though SSH.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
I've updated the installer to include a very simple GUI by default and added better customization through the debian-installer.config file.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
I've added some scripts to make building the image easier. cd ~/src wget http://buildroot.uclibc.org/downloads/buildroot-2012.05.tar.gz tar -xzvf buildroot-2012.05.tar.gz cd buildroot-2012.05 git clone https://github.com/doozan/a10-rescue.git custom cd custom git checkout v1.2 cd .. cp custom/buildroot-config .config make sudo custom/make_image.shby Jeff - Allwinner A10
I've created a bootable rescue system for the A10. When this image is written to an empty flash card, it will use the first 32MB of the card for uBoot and a 31MB FAT32 partition (I'll refer to this as the sysconfig partition). The sysconfig partition contains the uboot environment and a /rescue directory containing a basic system.bin file, boot images, autorun scripts, and network conby Jeff - Allwinner A10
I guess I missed that, thanks for pointing it out.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
AFAIK, buildroot doesn't support cloning uBoot from a custom git repo and the sun4i support is not part of mainline uboot.by Jeff - Allwinner A10
Are you sure that your uBoot is running? What is the output of printenv? There are two copies of uBoot on your device: the first one is pre-installed and should be on the first nand partition. The second uBoot is your, which must be installed to your MMC along with the sun4i-spl.bin loader: dd if=sun4i-spl.bin of=/dev/sdb bs=1024 seek=8 dd if=u-boot.bin of=/dev/sdb bs=1024 seek=32by Jeff - Allwinner A10
