No problem, reverted to 4.4.54 and all is well. Boned up on SATA booting, hadn't done that for a couple years lol. Don't really need the box for anything right now but I feel for my plugs and show them that all of them are loved. Don't want the Akitio to get jealous of my M300s or the Cisco ON100.. Gonna update this one to the last 4.4 linux kernel and I'll report back.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian

Was the latest uboot created to boot separate dts? Do the older uboots not have this capability? I'll try the older uboot versions to see if it makes a difference. Edit: OK, tried 2013 u-boot version and it has same result, hangs after setting PLLA.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian

The power switch is not functional without the stock kernel. Edit:by LeggoMyEggo - Debian

Bodhi, Gotta dig it out once I am in a stationary place to connect serial console. Might be couple days unfortunately. Something else to think about, this has 256MB of NAND as well as RAM. Oxnas Pogoplug of course has 128MB NAND / 128MB RAM. Don't know if that could impact something.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
Akitio Mycloud mini review with complete specs and internal pics. I have one of these. It ran bodhi Debian well but I ended up having to sata boot it with "magic dust" as I bricked it when updating uboot and there is no copy of the factory uboot or roots available to recover. TBH, nice looking piece of kit that looks great next to the Kace M300.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
No unfortunately. Cheapest option is an Android tablet with webcam displaying screen to TV via Miracast dongle or to late model TV with Miracast built in. Note that Fire TV 4k also has Miracast built in so you can use that in lieu of a Miracast dongle.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
Lack of a display and the inability to run client software mean that Pogoplug cannot be used for popular web conferencing applications. With a webcam, a Pogoplug can be used as a network attached camera that can have its output displayed at another location with the right software. Another issue would be two way audio, solvable but complex on a device like Pogoplug Unfortunately to enby LeggoMyEggo - Debian
I would assume Kace used different RAM chips in the board over the course of manufacturing. Obviously they would vary in specification depending on sourcing. Maybe they ended up with some that were out of spec enough to necessitate lowered performance settings in the OS that of course we would never know about. The other core chips on the motherboard would be all Marvell so I would suspect thby LeggoMyEggo - Debian
Sodface, The last M300 I bought a month ago has been a basket case as far as reliability goes. Using the same methods / procedures I used on the other 4 I have, this one is unreliable for reasons I cannot understand. And it doesn't seem to matter whether I boot from USB or SATA, same kernel panics either while booting or after completing booting. I'm convinced some of these hby LeggoMyEggo - Debian

For posterity sake, I thought I would repost and enhance what I posted in the Dell Kace M300 thread about how to resolve the Perl / CPAN issue with Stretch / Buster and more recent versions (i.e. 7.9+) of logitechmediaserver. Just wanted to let those interested know that the M300 does indeed support port multiplication as I had earlier hoped. I bought a 22 pin male to male adapter and a SATA to ESATA cable and hooked these up (via ESATA cable) to a Sans Digital 4 bay ESATA external disk enclosure. The 22 pin male to male adapter is here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S6HTVGI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o0by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
Related to this issue, I recently used the Jessie Debian rootfs for the Dell M300 on a new install. After the first boot, when I went to do a apt-get update, the system said my certificates were expired. 'apt-get clean' did not clear the error. Had to 'apt-get install ca-certificates' to be able to update, upgrade and install newer packages.by LeggoMyEggo - Debian
You need to create a swap file. The V4 only has 128MB of RAM and the bodhi install does not create a swap file (or swap drive for that matter) by default. Create a swap file of at least 1GB, reboot and then retry the install. Note there is a difference between a swap FILE and a swap DRIVE. They perform the same for the most part so a swap file is preferable as it can be easily resized and cby LeggoMyEggo - Debian
