Well, I've just remembered this: the most significant difference between the 2 u-boots is netconsole. My u-boot builds have netconsole patched (work around) and working. Arch's version does not seem to support it, iirc. The other difference is jffs2 file system in NAND (this is a minor difference, since ubifs is preferred).by bodhi - uBoot
@Nat, Your u-boot envs look fine. So the problem is just either bootargs or mounting rootfs. Your bootargs looks fine too. So retrace your steps in creating the rootfs: - Logging into another Linux box as root (sudo won't work). - Format the USB drive as a single Ext3 partition, and untar the rootfs archive as instructed in the kernel/rootfs thread. - Label the rootfs partition as roby bodhi - uBoot
@Don, I've been running jessie on a few of my NAS boxes for a while. But I've kept finding stuff that are broken, so I did not want to upload a new rootfs until now. I'm sure we will find other things needed updated as we go. One bug that bugs me (pun intended :) is that smbnetfs attributes copying problem kept coming back. I like smbnetfs in that it works like Windows networby bodhi - Debian
Rootfs Debian-3.18.5-kirkwood-tld-1 was uploaded. Please see 1st post for download link. This rootfs is the first Debian jessie rootfs in my Kirkwood kernel/rootfs release series, and to keep in sync with kernel Linux-3.18.5-kirkwood-tld-1.by bodhi - Debian

But I'm guessing, if you're referring to the original Pogo OS that does FW updates, if that so then no it's not on mtd0. mtd0 only cby bodhi - uBoot
Thawkins, If the mtd0 was badly flashed or erased, then with the Pogo E02 there is no other way other than Jtag. If the serial console was working then you would have a way to verify that for sure.by bodhi - uBoot

habibie, Before you connect serial console, consider this: QuoteLED stays solid with no network. If you've meant that the green LED flashing and then stays solid, then your kernel build was OK. Mounting the rootfs was most likely the problem.by bodhi - uBoot

It looks like my build has a problem. The most important tool in building your own kernel/rootfs is the serial console. @sudos, Since you want to boot SATA only, and based on your current u-boot envs, you have to use a rootfs that has the DTB file embedded inside uImage. - With the HDD attached, no USB. - Boot and interrupt serial console, and then: seteenv bootcmd 'run bootcmd_sata; reset' and then boot Once you've booted into Debian, set it permanently: fw_seteenv bootcmdby bodhi - Debian

FYI, I will release a jessie rootfs for 3.18.5 in the next few days.by bodhi - Debian
Twinclouds, - backup your rootfs - change apt source to Jessie - remove flash-kernel if installed - apt-get update - apt get dist-upgrade - regenerate uInitrd. You will be automatically changed over to systemd. To boot back to sysvinit (I did), install sysvinit-core and other 2 packages(forgot which ones, will post these for you if needed). Amro, Change your bootm bootcmd_linux=setenv bootargs ${bootargs_linux}; mw.l f1010100 0020c000; usb reset; ext2load usb 0:1 ${loadaddr} /uImage; ext2load usb 0:1 0x01100000 /uInitrd; bootm ${loadaddr} 0x01100000 I forgot that with the new u-boot, you should change all $(var) to ${var} format. So change all your envs, but do one at the time. boot completly into Debian after each change tby bodhi - uBoot
Amro, I guess you were playing with the envs and has unintentionally removed the loadaddr! It has nothign to do with the USB /boot or rootfs. Boot, interrupt serial console/netconsole and setenv loadaddr 0x800000 And then boot And this is wrong (extra quote), setenv needs quotes to include space. But when you list the envs, there should be no quote. bootcmd='run bootcby bodhi - uBoot
