Re: IconBIT IS608 Oxnas OX820 booting problem with kernel 4.14.x

sakatgg,

I see. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with OpenWrt so cannot tell what's wrong right away. The u-boot you have on the HDD is basically the same as mine (shv built it using the source from my GitHub) so I don't think it is u-boot problem.

For now, you can work around this by specifying the MAC address inside /etc/network/interfaces.

=======

One thing seems wrong is the timestamp of the kernel files. They all the same!
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          8996 May 31 00:13 ox820-pogoplug-classic.dtb

After you rebuilt kernel and DTB, and then copy the files you should use "cp -a" to preserve the timestamp, so later you can check to see if you have the wrong files.

ARM Debian takes the MAC from sda1 /u-boot.env, and ARM Openwrt seems to be looking for the path from etc / fw_env.config

/dev/mtd2 0x0 0x2000 0x2000 1

Openwrt does not find it. I'm loading with sata, there is no mdX on sata

root @ OpenWrt: / # fw_printenv
Предупреждение: неверный CRC, используется среда по умолчанию
bootcmd = ВООТР; setenv bootargs root = / dev / nfs nfsroot = $ {serverip}: $ {rootpath} ip = $ {ipaddr}: $ {serverip}: $ {gatewayip}: $ {netmask}: $ {hostname} :: off; bootm
BootDelay = 5
боды = 115200

Yes did so, added

/etc/network
	option macaddr '2A:C0:XX:XX:XX:XX'

Ok

Incorrect. That was the u-boot on HDD only.

In the normal case both Debian and OpenWrt look for the envs mtd in /etc/fw_env.config

Correct. So fw_ennv cannot be used, unless we go further and make it appear there is an mtd0 and mtd1 on SATA (this u-boot does not use mtd2). This will not be worth the trouble (because you already have a work around).

So the problem is the params being passed from u-boot to kernel seems to be ignored by OpenWrt. This params is a block of memory that the kernel has access to. It usually has MAC address, memory size, and other info.

See if you can run this in u-boot:

For my IconBIT IS608, the ox820-akitio profile is better suited, there is i2c there, the on and off button works.

SATA

ethaddr     = 74:F0:6D:6A:1D:17

NAND

ethaddr     = 00:30:E0:00:00:01

The NAND MAC addr is correct (Oxford Semi NAS). But the SATA MAC addr is also OK (Azure Wave).

If OpenWrt worked correctly, then you should see the SATA MAC addr being used to assign to the NIC.

On the native Fedora 12 firmware, a completely different MAC is the one that is indicated on the label on the NAS enclosure.

By the way, on the ox820-akitio profile, blue led works, blinks while downloading, and then glows.

The one on the enclosure is the correct one to use.

Then this IconBIT is a clone of the Akitio, not the Pogoplug Classic. Do you have link that shows a picture of this box somewhere?

All these models are exact copies, the board, the case are the same, the design of the front panel is slightly different. They only have a different manufacturer’s label and software

I see.

Then you should definitely use the Akitio DTB for booting. It is different from the Pogoplug V3 in LEDs configuration.
