I tried to boot on the usb port but it does not recognize the volumes, whatever the usb key I test.

So I installed a tftp server on my laptop and now, I am now able to boot my Netgear Stora using the command:
Quote
▶ sudo kwboot -t -B 115200 /dev/ttyUSB0 -b uboot.2017.07-tld-1.netgear_ms2110.mtd0.kwb -p

My problem is that I can not go to the end of the boot process because I have the following error:

Quote
Kernel panic - not syncing: No working init found. Try passing init= option to kernel. See Linux Documentation/admin-guide/init.rst for guidance.

I tested with :
- 1 USB key
- no HDD
- 1 HDD
- 2 HDD

I have the same result in all cases.

Does somebody had the same problem and managed to solve it ?
Thanks.

Ire,

Try to use another USB flash drive. The kernel does not recognize your current drive.

==================

Here is the basic installation steps in Wiki thread:

Kirkwood plugs

Basic steps to install Debian and new u-boot on Kirkwood boxes

Basically, you need to create a USB rootfs using the latest rootfs tarball in the release thread (Debian-6.5.7-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2). And then kwboot with new u-boot and this USB rootfs attached. When you run kwboot, it should have no problem seeing the USB flash drive. You don't need to load uImage and uInitrd over tftp. And you don't need to set any u-boot envs. Just boot.

Thanks for your reply.

I've just test your solution but my USB flash drive is still not detected after booting with kwboot

Try:

Plug your USB drive into another port. If it is still not detected by u-boot, use another USB drive.

There should be 2 USB devices detected. One is the USB hub, the other is USB storage drive.

There is only 1 USB port on Netgear Stora.
I tested with ~10 differents USB drives, formated in ext2, ext3, ext4 and Fat32 : never detected by u-boot.

I think it's time to say definitively goodbye to my Netgear Stora ...

Have you tried to plug in a power USB hub?

Hello bodhi
Ijust tested with a power USB hub but I still get the issue.

lre,

OK. So try booting the rootfs on the HDD.

- Take the HDD to another Linux box. Copy files that you need to save (or back up the drive).
- Reformat the HDD to have a single Ext3 partition (ideally 100 GB).
- And follow the same procedure in the release thread when you create the USB Debian rootfs using Debian-6.5.7-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2.
- Since you are going to boot with the new u-boot, don't do Step 4. It is for stock u-boot only.

Insert the HDD back to the Stora, kwboot and let it boot automatically. After you have booted into Debian successfully, you can proceed to install new u-boot.
