I cannot help you with Arch. However, you can boot Debian with Jeff 's u-boot.

Use a USB flash drive, install the rootfs Debian-6.5.7-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 from the release thread.

https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096

And try booting with it.

hello Bodhi ser..

I have flashed new boot image and I don't know how to go forward after this step.

Pogoplug:/tmp$ ./flash_erase /dev/mtd0 0 4
Erasing 128 Kibyte § 60000 -- 100 % complete
Pogoplug:/tmp$ ./nandwrite /dev/mtd0 uboot.2017.07-tld-1.pogo_e02.mtd0.kwb
Writing data to block 0 at offset 0x0
Writing data to block 1 at offset 0x20000
Writing data to block 2 at offset 0x40000
Writing data to block 3 at offset 0x60000

Pogoplug:/tmp$ /usr/sbin/flash_erase /dev/mtd0 0xc0000 1
Erase Total 1 Units
Performing Flash Erase of length 131072 at offset 0xc0000 done

Pogoplug:/tmp$ /usr/sbin/nandwrite -s 786432 /dev/mtd0 uboot.2016.05-tld-1.environment.img
Writing data to block 6 at offset 0xc0000

I am no sure how to set ens now...pls guide me..I have not restarted the Pogoplug yet...pogoplug does not detect any usb....
I have imported files through scp command in the /tmp folder...but I know the files will be lost after I reboot....and I can't copy those files either..it says "read only"

++(((((Then for all boxes, restore these 2 envs using the saved envs text in step c (replace xxx with the real saved values))))++

what does these lines mean..?
do I have to change the ethaddr with the same value the Pogoplug had it before?

Pogoplug:/tmp$ ./fw_printenv ethaddr
ethaddr=52:xx:xx:xx:11:xx

Pogoplug:/tmp$ ./fw_printenv ethaddr 00:xx:31:xx:xx:xx
ethaddr=52:xx:xx:xx11:xx
## Error: "00:xx:31:xx:F2:xx" not defined

if I copy paste the command which u gave and add the ethaddr Pogoplug had it before it gives this error

my ethaddr before in the current_envs.txt is not the ethhaddr which now displays..

pls guide me how to go about it..

Thanks

Your command for setting the address is incorrect. Change:
./fw_printenv ethaddr 00:xx:31:xx:xx:xx
to
 ./fw_setenv ethaddr 00:xx:31:xx:xx:xx

To set the variable. You can then check it by entering:
./fw_printenv ethaddr

The flashing looks good.

Yes. That's preferable.

But the box still would boot ok with the temporary MAC adress in the defaul envs image that you've just flashed.

At this point, you can boot with the new USB rootfs.

Everything else looks good. But the USB drive is not detected.

U-Boot 2017.07-tld-1 (Sep 05 2017 - 00:13:18 -0700)
Pogo E02
gcc (Debian 6.3.0-18) 6.3.0 20170516
GNU ld (GNU Binutils for Debian) 2.28
Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0
starting USB...
USB0: USB EHCI 1.00
scanning bus 0 for devices... cannot reset port 1!?
1 USB Device(s) found
scanning usb for storage devices... 0 Storage Device(s) found

So you need to try all 3 USB ports, to see if the problem is with the port or the USB flash drive itself. If the behavior is the same for each port, then try using a different USB flash drive.

yeah i did try all ports and with different usb stick too..one is sandisk cruzer blade and the other is from kingston....

i earlier before flashing new uboot tried "dmesg" and it did not show any usb drives.....

but now pogoplug do not goes back stock os even with no usb plugged....

not a big deal though....but can u tell me any other way to get the usb ports working or anyother way to get the pogoplug working....

bodhi ser...thanks for replying to my noob question though. :-)

linux is fun though..will learn it..

:-)

i did post it here though in this thread usb ports not being detecting any pen drives....

here is my post and results the commands threw before upadting u-boot------

<Another command df -h gives this output with pen drive attached...>

what does this point too...USB port failures??
have tried attaching wd ultra portable usb hdd and its power indicator lights up and seems to be working ok..but Pogoplug as with the pen drives does not detect it..

gov,

> what does this point too...USB port failures??

Yes it looks like a HW problem. Normally, I would recommend checking the power supply first to make sure it is not a power problem. However, this plug has an internal power supply, so even it is removable, you can't do much with another power supply.

If you have a local network with other Linux boxes, you could store the Debian rootfs in one of those box storage and use NFS rootfs. The current u-boot 2017.07 should boot NFS rootfs without problem. See the Wiki thread..
