Hi, i saw this post and thought it is a good idea to use the dockstar as usb device server but i ran into some problems. I installed the usbip package from debian repository and all went fine. The problem begin after i connected the shared device with the windows client 0.2.0.0 to my windows 7 x64 desktop computer and tried to disconnect the device from the windows 7 client. Hi, @ Gorgone Hab ich was vepaßt??? Grüße Do i have missed something? Did you release your ne Kernel for Dockstar?by StefanV3 - Debian
Hi, my dockstar is with debian squeeze samba and vsftpd. I have attached a 4 gb kingston usb stick for debian and an 1 TB samsung usb hdd for samba shares and ftp. The 1 tb hdd is ext2 formatted. Write speeds over samba and ftp are ok (about 20 mbyte/s) but read speeds are low. I only get 6-7 mbyte/s read speeds. I tested with dd and got the following reseults: root@dockstar:~# dd if=/by StefanV3 - Debian
Hi, @ Gorgone You've announced that you will releasea kernel that supports "zram". Wht is the benefit of "zram"??? Will the kernel be available until x-mas or not? Thanks StefanV3by StefanV3 - Debian
Hi, ja, genau so...
Script in "/etc/usbmby StefanV3 - Debian
Also, vielen Dank...
Hi, i have another problem. I am not able to boot into debian when i have connected two usb storage devices. One is the usb stick with debian and the other one i a 1 TB USB HDD (FAT32 formatted). On restart the dockstar scan's the usb stick and after that the USB HDD but it seems the it doesn't complete this scan. Hi, i got it to work. The Problem was the parameter "Sync" in "MOUNTOPTIONS" at usbmount.conf. After removing "Sync" i was able to copy thefile. Another tipp from debianforum.de says that i should configure samba to only use port 139. I'll giveit a try... Thanks StefanV3by StefanV3 - Debian
Hi, i am new here. I got my Segate Dockstar and installed jeff's debian squeeze on it with Samba. Connected is a 1 GB USB stick for Debian and a 1 TB usb hdd for shares. But, i cannot copy a test file that has a size of 1 GB onto the usb hdd via Samba. Windows 7 x6 tells me that thee is a problem occured and i sould make sure that the dockstar is really connected.
