Running it on Dockstar for several days now, works with movies, MP3s and pictures. Have you considered serviio? I have tried mediatomb and minidlna, but serviio works 10x better with my Samsung TV. I can pause, FF and RW which I was not able to do with previous DLNA servers. I am currently running it on window PC, got it running on Dockstar and currently trying to install web interface for remote access. Romanby RomanG - Debian
Lars, What kernel are you running? Driver for your chipset is supported since kernel 2.6.32-10. You may consider updating your kernel if you are running 2.6.32-7 or older. Please see this post and subsequent posts for solution. Good luck, Romanby RomanG - Debian
It is really simple, takes couple of minutes. You may want to also install Jeff's rescue system, really handy if something goes wrong. Romanby RomanG - Debian
Brian, You got it. The driver is not loaded because you are running kernel 2.6.32-5 and realtek driver is compiled only in kernel 2.6.32-10 and above. This was precisely the reason, why I upgraded my dockstar to gorgone's kernel, to get my wireless working. You can either compile your own kernel with realtek drivers or use gorgone's kernel. I chose later, since I do not have enoby RomanG - Debian
Brian, Could you please post output of uname -a Just to make sure what version of kernel you are running. Romanby RomanG - Debian

I solved the problem by installing version v1 of the new kernel as described in this post. Dockstar now present itself like this: root@NEPTUNE:~# uname -a Linux NEPTUNE 2.6.37-dockstar #6 Mon Jan 17 01:55:44 CET 2011 armv5tel GNU/Linux Both cameras now work fine. Romanby RomanG - Debian

I tried Logitech Quickcam Messenger camera (non-UVC, with ST6422 chip), with same results, kernel crashes as soon as camera is plugged in. I wonder if gorgone would be willing to look in to this issue? Romanby RomanG - Debian

Hi all, I just upgraded kernel to gorgone's 2.6.35-7-dockstar to get my USB-WiFi working, since the 2.6.32-5-kirkwood did not have driver for my RTL8188SU based WiFi adapter. WiFi works fine now, but as a side effect, I lost my webcam that I was using with motion as a surveillance camera. When I plug the webcam in, it crashes the kernel. I am using EDUP 802.11n/g/b adapter from Dealextreme.com, with USB A-Female to Mini USB 5-Pin Female Adapter it fits nicely in to top Dockstar port. It uses Realtek RLT8188SU chip. Details described in this post. Romanby RomanG - Debian
Hi gorgone, Thanks for your hard work!! I installed your new kernel in order to get my WiFi USB stick going. It works like a charm. I described what I did in this post. Now I am trying to get web cam going (which was working with Jeff's kernel 2.6.32-5). This is older webcam with OV7648 sensor that was working with zc3xx and gspca drivers. I did some more reading on RTL8188su and found out that the driver is already compiled in to kernel (since kernel 2.6.32-10) So I installed Realtek firmware, wireless-tools, wpa_supplicant and ifplugd ~# apt-get install firmware-realtek ~# apt-get install wireless-tools ~# apt-get install wpasupplicant ~# apt-get install ifplugd You may need to add path to /etc/apt/sources.list in ordeby RomanG - Debian

Lothar, I have same issue, zcip does not work. I tried rcS script modification as you suggested and Dockstar gets static IP and I can ssh in. However, it can not connect to the outside world - internet. I am guessing DNS IP is missing somehow, although I have /etc/resolv.conf defined. Are you experiencing same issue? Thanks Romanby RomanG - Rescue System
I found what the problem was in my case. My NSLU2 was connected to the router/switch and Dockstar was connected to the different switch. When running Debian on the Dockstar I could ping the NSLU2 and even connect to it via nc from Dockstar (and vice versa). But for some reason, messages were not getting through during u-boot loading. Once I connected both to the same switch, all works fine,by RomanG - uBoot
I followed instructions in the first post to set up environment variables on my Dockstar to enable the netconsole. Then I installed nc on my laptop (win2k) as well as netcat on my NSLU2. I tried: nc -l -u -p 6666 and also nc -l -u -p 6666& nc -u 192.168.0.44 6666 and also socat STDIO UDP-LISTEN:6666 but I can not see any boot messages from Dockstar. Change the audio_output section of the /etc/mpd.conf file to : audio_output { type "alsa" name "My ALSA Device" format "44100:16:2" period_time "50000" } it should fix the problem. Romanby RomanG - Debian

My experience was the same, out of the box flashing amber light, could not detect it on the network. Returned it back to store and got replacement unit which is working fine. I use Advanced IP Scanner from Radmin to find IP addresses on my home network. Also, method recommended by Alexander Hollner on his web site worked on my Dockstar. I had the same problem, I partitioned my USB stick on my SuSe laptop and then did the install on Dockstar. I got CRC error messages on the beginning of the install and final message was that install was successful. However I was not able to boot to Debian, boot process would alternate between original OS and "hunged up" Dockstar. After that, I partitioned USB stick on the Dockstar anby RomanG - Debian
Getting lcd4linux working on dockstar is pretty easy, much easier than it was on my NSLU2. I used home build USB driver for LCD display, slightly modified version of one that is described here: USB2LCD+ usb-serial module is already compiled in to the kernel and when display is plugged in to the dockstar, dmesg shows following: . .. ... ....
