Hi Ian- would you mind listing the steps you used to implement L2TP/IPSEC? I tried this a couple of years ago, and was never able to get something to work with my iPhone/iPad, but I have been using PPTPD with no issues for a while. Now that i'm running Wheezy on my Dockstar, I think I'm ready to try this again. Thanks, Chrisby ChrisC - Debian
OK, it was a bit of a learning process for me, but I downloaded older .deb files for mythTV and was able to get everything working again. The good news was the none of my settings were lost. Once mythbackend started up, everything was good. So, it appears that for the time being, until the broken packages for the latest distribution get fixed, this is what worked for me mythtv_0.24.1-0.0squeby ChrisC - Debian
I just upgraded my mythtv installation using webmin's package upgrade feature, now my mythtv no longer works. There appears to be broken packages for (0.24.1+fixes20111029-0.0squeeze1) A little more investigation on this reveals that the updated mythtv-backend is still dependent on the previous version of mythtv-common. The broken dependency seems to be what is preventing the instaby ChrisC - Debian
Ah, I didn't see the original issue with the TV listings. Yes, I'm using Schedules Direct. Also, I'm using the digital signal that I get from my Cable provider (Comcast), so my list of channel choices is limited. But it works well for what I wanted to use it for. For some reason, even with Schedules Direct, I had to do a manual edit on every channel after the initial scan, inby ChrisC - Debian
I've been using MythTV backend and MythWeb on my dockstar for about 9 months now. It works flawlessly as a basic DVR, and will stream 1080 HD recordings to my ps3 with no issues. I use a HDHomeRun as a tuner. The only thing different I see in your installation instructions was that I did not install any sort of VNC. I was able to use Xorg. This allowed me to run mythtv-setup. I have some forward progress to report. I can confirm that I have a working setup for Openswan + xl2tpn that allows me to connect via IPSEC/L2TPN with my windows XP laptop. However, my iPhone looks like it's timing out when it tries to make a connection. PPTP still works for the iPhone though. So far, I've been able to use existing packages without having to recompile anything.by ChrisC - Debian
I'll keep tinkering with it on my end as well. Currently in China at the moment, and using the PPTP option both on my iPhone and windows laptop. I still want to get L2TPN/IPSEC working. I think at the moment, I'm leaning toward the options that don't involve using RADIUS, as I don't have multiple users to manage. In that case, it appears that xl2tpd would be the right chby ChrisC - Debian
I've recently been experimenting with some of the various VPN solutions on my dockstar. The quickest and by far the easiest to set up was PPTP. It works well on the dockstar and my iPhone over wireless or 3g (Verizon). I've been using it off and on for a week now. I've done quite a bit of searching on the more secure L2TPN/IPSEC method (also supported directly with iOS). I hby ChrisC - Debian
Make sure your /etc/apt/sources.list is updated to include debain.multimedia.org I used: deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org squeeze main non-free apt-get update apt-get install mythtv Since I'm using a separate front end to access the back-end, you'll need to reconfigure mysql to allow other machines to access. There may be better ways to do this, but for me what worked wasby ChrisC - Debian
I've been successfully running MythTV (0.24) on a Dockstar running Debian for almost a week now. I'm using a second Dockstar as a samba file server to handle the file storage. For Video capture I'm using a HDHomeRun. I'm also using the built-in Upnp server to serve up the recorded videos to my ps3. I'm able to stream full 1080HD video recordings to my ps3. I'm attempting to set up an HDHomerun to save mpeg.ts streams to the dockstar. I've succesfully complied the latest version of the hdhomerun_config, and the commands seem to be work, I'm able to set channels, program number, get stream information, etc. However, when I attempt to save a stream, I get an initial file created, but the file size stays at zero. Ok that makes sense, but that brings me to another question. Since all I have is the "Marvel" prompt, I don't have access to wget. I thought that was a requirement to use Jeff's U-bootby ChrisC - uBoot

I'm relatively new to this "game" so thanks for following along. I have a dockstart that had previously been sucessfully running jeff's uboot and debian. I've been able to resurrect a bricked unit before via a serial cable, but this one has me stumped. I've been following directions to restore the original u-boot, with the instructions here: http://www.plugappsby ChrisC - uBoot
