Like I said I lost the rootfs flash drive. Right now I only have access to the Pogoplug from another ubuntu system through USB-Serial console cable so how do I issue these commands? Do I have to create a Debian rootfs or something? I forgot what did I do last time. In serial prompt I only have this prompt: Pogov4> which doesn't have cat, nanddump, flash_erase etc. commands available.by Tushar - uBoot
After many years (back in 2017 I guess), I wanted to assign some new job to my Pogoplug V4, however I lost the USB pen drive where I created the original rootfs. After connecting the Pogov4 through a usb-serial console from a Ubuntu desktop, I get this: Pogov4> reset resetting ... I was cleaning up my shelf this afternoon and found the Pogoplug v4 I purchased years ago. After these many years of collecting dust, I wonder what can be done with this little device with very low hardware specifications. I already have a Synology 2-bay NAS serving my home network. Is anyone else using it for any other purpose? Even pi-hole won't work on it, I guess?by Tushar - Off-Topic
I was trying to install LAMP server on my Pogoplug V4. All the instructions found on the web for this device is outdated. I successfully passed Apache2, Php 7 working. However, when I try to install Mariadb, I keep on receiving the following error: I spent the whole day searching for solution on Google/stackexchange etc, but nothing works! I wonder if someone can help me what's the issueby Tushar - Debian
Hi Bodhi, Thanks a lot. That was the issue. Now it's working just as expected. Now 3 other questions, 1. In the wiki under Linux Tools, I see HDD spin down sections: Debian hdparm (HDD spin down) Hard Drive Idle Tool (an alternative to the standard Debian hdparm) -is this a good practice to apply those? Hi Bodhi, I'm booting the system off an USB stick and I'd like to change it to a SATA 2.5inch hdd instead. Do I need to change any settings anywhere? Now my current fw_printenv looks like following: root@debian:~# fw_printenv bootcmd_exec=run load_uimage; if run load_initrd; then if run load_dtb; then bootm $load_uimage_addr $load_initrd_addr $load_dtb_addr; else bootm $load_uimaby Tushar - Debian
Bodhi, If I understood you correctly, you are suggesting to use an external 2.5" HDD with USB cable connected to the Pogoplug? Because I'm using a Pogoplug Series 4 - which has built-in SATA port, I had an impression if I plug the drive directly to the SATA port that would be better! 2. I was also thinking of moving rootfs to the HDD altogether and ditch the idea of using USB thuby Tushar - Debian
Thanks Bodhi, Despite being a new drive, the issue was within the flash drive itself. I was able to successfully upgrade after using another drive. This event got me into thinking what if I use a 2.5 inch SATA HDD instead of a thumb drive, would I get better performance in terms of reliability? what do you suggest? Thanks.by Tushar - Debian

Hi, On Debian can I make any use of the reset button found on pogoplug v4? Wondering what's the purpose of the button.. * Can I somehow use this to shutdown the system without login into console? Thanks.by Tushar - Debian
Hi, I have installed transmission on the pogo v4. Also setup automounting (hotplug) USB drives as per this link http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,24139 The plan, I thought was I will plug in a 8GB usb drive and start to download using transmission. Hi Bodhi, Thanks for reply. I was wondering if I could revert back to original pogoplug factory firmware? Given the fact that I have serial connection and also I kept backup copy of MTD and all necessary files before upgrading to Debian? Thanks.by Tushar - Debian
Hi, I have my Pogoplug V4 connected via serial cable which is on U-Boot 2016.05-tld-1 (June 12 2016 ....) I forgot my Debian's root password. Is there any way I can reset the password? -or- most preferably, I like to re-install the rootfs/linux (debian) on a new flash drive - how can I do that ? Thanks, Tushar.by Tushar - Debian
