deskjockey: I see what is your problem. You first need to telnet into the router. Then set root password by doing passwd. After that you can ssh into it. Once you have a command line prompt with telnet or ssh, you can just do opkg install (for openwrt) as Mario did. It will download and install Asterisk. I agree with funtoy1001 that you might be able to get more help from other forums, e.gby twinclouds - Debian

Hi, I am glad you feel that my posts are useful. I hope I will be able to provide help that you need as much as I can. The issue is I am not sure what exactly you need. All of the routers and Dockstar that you have can be used for this purpose. As for Dockstar, what I and Peter Gunn are talking about the same thing. Squeeze he talked about is the latest stable version of Debian and that isby twinclouds - Debian

I would strongly recommend to back up your USB installation first.by twinclouds - Debian
Is this (http://www.plugapps.com/index.php5?title=Hardware:_Seagate_DockStar_Reflashing) you want to do? If it is you should first restore the original uboot. Jeff's tdm0-uboot won't work.by twinclouds - Debian
I always keep a back-up copy of the USB sticks containing Debian/Dockstar for any major revisions using Acronis on my PC. I dug out one of these and made a .tar.gz file and restore it to a clean USB stick and verified it works. The file is about 144MB, slightly larger than the Lenny tarball (118MB). I don't know why no one has made these available for sharing with others. If anyone is inby twinclouds - Debian
Hi, opossum I tried the trunk version once to install in the internal flash of Dockstar and it works fine. However, I don't have much success of using it for install in USB. The problem is the uImage file. If I use the uImage that I built together with the rootfs.tar.gz, openwrt will work. However, if I use the uImage downloaded from the trunk, it never works. It appears booting but thby twinclouds - Debian

The same as you I also like the tarball way of installation much better than the debootstrap. Hope someone can do the community a service to generate such a tarball for Squeeze. I may try as wellby twinclouds - Debian
Peter: Thanks for your suggestions. At lease, it appears that the register over the web works. The key is I need to put externhost statement in sip.conf file. I changes the rtp port range but it appears that external sip phone works fine even without open the rtp ports. I will try the sipdroid again later.by twinclouds - Debian
Peter: I tried a few sip phones including the two you mentioned in your posts on my HTC Incredible. However, I always have problem to register with my Asterisk server. When you use a non-standard port (5060), how do you specify in the Linphone? Do you use serverip:port #? I Sipdroid, I always have the problem say no data network available even though I have both wifi and 3g service availableby twinclouds - Debian
Sounds like you need to check it with serial cable to determine what's things going on. A CA-42 cable costs less than $3 anyway on Ebay.by twinclouds - Debian
I tried to reinstall Squeese by upgrading from Lenny from scratch. It actually works quite well. The steps are as follows: 1. Install Lenny using Jeff's "old" scripts. It took only about 10 minutes. 2. Edit the /etc/apt/sources.list file. Replace the existing text with the following two lines: deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian squeeze main contrib non-free deb-src httpby twinclouds - Debian
Interesting. Then please send me an internal email so we can keep in touch. (I assume you can find my email address, since you have already know so much about me.) If not I will tell you my first name next time. There are not many people have the same first name with me.by twinclouds - Debian
petergunn: Thanks. However, I would like to have some other to test it before public downloading. I will let you know once it is ready. Please let me know your email address. You can pm me in the other forum if this forum does not have one.by twinclouds - Debian

I have been spending some time to make Asterisk 1.8 working on Dockstar for using gtalk. It is all done now. Actually its installation is not very difficult for people willing to do some compilation. However, it will be more convenient and time-saving to generate a .deb file for semi automated installation without compiling. I like the Lenny approach better than the current Squeeze installation procedure. If that is Daze means, I would say it will be worthwhile effort.by twinclouds - Debian
Not sure what do you mean. I don't think debootstrap use TAR file. Am I wrong about this?by twinclouds - Debian
Sorry I didn't come to this forum and thread lately so didn't answer some of the questions. For Asterisk, I tried make Openwrt working on Dockstar and with others' contributions, it works very reliably now and take a lot of resources. Moreover, no compilation is needed. However, this is outside of the scope of this forum. I am glad what I did helped.by twinclouds - Debian
