Same as before, nothing: => sata init => sata info => sata part no sata partition table available => There is two separate controllers in this thing, correct? Good catch, I hadnt noticed that only 2 of the 4 disks are being detected. I ran parted and can only see two but then this popped up in the console: Welcome to GNU Parted! Ah, sorry, I should have noticed file name. Quotebodhi Add this env: setenv mtdparts 'mtdparts=orion_nand:0x100000@0x0(u-boot),0x0500000@0x100000(uImage),-(rootfs)" Adjust this env setenv usb_set_bootargs 'setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 root=LABEL=rootfs rootdelay=10 $mtdparts earlyprintk=serial' And boot, this time we only need to see in Debian: dmesg cat /proc/mtd -bodhi Stock u-boot dby CodeJACK - uBoot
Hi bodhi, sorry for the delay but Im back in action today to continue. I think I should delete a few posts above to save future confusion. With the new u-boot, I can enter the env's stated without issue and the only command that does not exist in u-boot now is 'pimux' The physical NIC ports on the rear are labled 1 and 2 but actually, its 2 that appears to be the 0 interfaceby CodeJACK - uBoot

Awesome, I'm here ( or will be again in two weeks) to use and abuse to test whatever is needed on this box. I have the stock u-boots already and even found the original recovery files on the old nas-central web archive. I'm not always great at trying to get a message across :-) Forgive me. Sheevaplug because it loads and works great via kwboot. Reto that started this thread had no luck loading it from NVRAM. I wouldnt ask you to roll a new version for me but would this be something I could attempt myself by following docs or would I need a lot more experience?by CodeJACK - uBoot
Yeah, scsi works but as you see, u-boot thinks they are dos partition. I'm about to disappear for two weeks leave but ill get stuck into this when Im back. I like your idea of using the USB for just the kernel files but ill also try the hybrib partitioning to see how that goes. Do you think there is any way sheevaplug could be manipulated to run from nvram?? Im not much great with hardby CodeJACK - uBoot

Hey, Im trying to boot this box with 4 x 6Tb disks and therefore disks partitioned as GPT. Has anyone managed to do this without using hybrid partitioning? I can boot from USB and all 4 x 6Tb are detected but I'd rather move the install to disk so that I can do OMV etc. Disks at u-boot are seen as: (this is just two of them) scanning bus for devices... Sorry, typed that up while doing some other stuff too. I meant mgx's experience in this thread: https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,25120,page=4 I get that this box is old and mgx's experience may not be the same as what I expect but I had initially expected good reliability running current debian and OMV but maybe this is not the box for that. Performance is not an issue at all,by CodeJACK - uBoot
Yeah, its only 512MB RAM. Im still reading through the threads here but this post is most telling that what I am trying might be a waste of time and if I buy disks, money too :-) Still, its a game that will keep me busy for some hours...by CodeJACK - uBoot
No problem, I wont feel bad if this thing catches fire. I have serial pin header soldered in and found the original recovery image to convert this from the standard ix4 to the cloud edition so worst case, ill roll back to them. Sheevaplug is what I have running with kwboot and I dont see any issues just yet. Once I get this on nand, ill move/install rootfs to a btrfs like listed in the wiki foby CodeJACK - uBoot
Ah its a MBR v GPT thing, I've forgotten about that. My intention is to flash your u-boot to this machine. Its loading fine via kwboot. Hi, I'm in the process of using the fantastic software and instructions provided here to re-vamp an ix4-200d that was rescued from the bin. Originally, the max individual disk size that was spec'd for these was 4Tb. Does changing any of the u-boot software or debian kernel enable the use of larger disks or is the limitation due to the CPU/Hardware/32bit ?? Thanks, Rob.by CodeJACK - uBoot
