Balduin, First, let me say that you're doing everything in a nice way :) kwboot the box with serial console and load u-boot envs from disk. It's the safest way to install u-boot: alway kwboot first if you can. > It finds and initializes the USB hub > and the thumb drive but does not show it among the > valid boot partitions. Ok the subject now is little bit off-topic! Let me move it to a new thread. ----- This forum software seems to not working right when I split the threads :) sorry if you got confuse reading this.by bodhi - Debian
Joey, Nice try :) Actually it is easy to work around for this lack of RTC and in case there is no battery: write the last datetime to a file and read it back during boot. As long as the time is in the past and close enough to the current time, it will be OK. The ntp daemon will take care of setting it to the correct time afterward.by bodhi - Off-Topic

If you post the entire serial boot log for this: from the u-boot baner until after you'velogged into Debian, perhaps I can help to troubleshoot the network problem.by bodhi - Debian

Thanks Joey! Looks like they are all for a different model. Mine is Dell Chromebook 11, battery model 5R9DD. > Does the Chromebook work with power adapter otherw > ise? Sure, I can plug it in permanently. This chromebook does not have RTC so the clock needs reset to a sane time whenever you disconnect/connect power.by bodhi - Off-Topic

JRD McLAREN, > Yesterday I have problem with LAN. It can not work > . > LEDs are off, when cable is plugged in, > one GREEN is on with no cable. Which LED? the system LED or the ethernet LED? Do you have serial console? If not, did you set up neconsole on the 2nd box? Have you tried to create a new rootfs using Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 on USB drby bodhi - Debian
mpmc, The config-4.10.0-kirkwood-tld-1 should not be a problem with detecting the HDD. You are booting without initrd? is that correct? Marvell>> bootm 0x800000 ## Booting image at 00800000 ... Hi feas, My Dell Chromebook 11 battery is dead today :) it's no longer holding charge. Sorry to have recommended you such a dud! So please beware. I've been traveling and forgot to shut it down. So the chromebook battery drained to 0 and died. It's partly my fault to have let it go under the margin! However, obviously the battery is not a good quality one.by bodhi - Off-Topic
Joey, > The half-height card - the first one can go in pro > per and the 2nd ribbon can be hot glued in place ( > or thereabouts). One left over for future needs. Here is your next task :) think about how you'd route the ribbon out of the box and being able to put the box back together, do we have to cut a rectangular hole on the side wall or top wall?by bodhi - Off-Topic
joerg_999, I did so many times, perhaps it was not enough :) The rootfs has the correct settings the first time you extracted to the disk. But after you have booted with it at least once, in some cases, the settings was overwritten by udev. So always check those 2 files when you clone it, or use it to boot other boxes. Furthermore, you actually need to deal with 2 files, not one. See myby bodhi - Debian

@Joey, See this: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,33321,33390#msg-33390 Set your Pogo V3 to turn off flow control as instructed in the link above. And see if the SAMBA files xfer rate improved.by bodhi - Off-Topic
Add bodhi's benchmarks QuoteKirkwood vs OXNAS network performance (turn off flow control)by bodhi - Debian
The reason network performance is degraded on the Pogo V3 OXNAS is: flow control. The OXNAS ethernet driver set this by default. We need to turn it off in the driver, but that will be incorprated in the next kernel release. At the moment, the workaround is to do turn it off with ethtool.
