IMO, It's right at the top of the Kirkwood plugs for me (256MB RAM and large 512MB NAND, Wifi). You might want to try my new iConnect uBoot buildby bodhi - Debian

Twinclouds, Thanks for the feedbacks! Defintely the abbreviated guide was not for newb. I will modify it a bit to mention both, excellent points!by bodhi - Debian
Hi Christ, Yes, looks like I forgot to remove debug statements in this build:) unfortunately I dont know any way to turn it off when it is running! I will rebuild it along with new uBoot images for iConnect and Dockstar and release all at once.by bodhi - uBoot
archat68, > I need something newbieproof ik ethe Jeff's script > :). Currently, the only automated installation is to install Arch Linux. That way you will have a complete system running first. This is to get uBoot installed automatically. Then if you want to run Debian then use a different USB stick to create Debian rootfs, see http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096. Iome, Thanks for your report. It was indeed an oversight of mine :) I believe it's because this Kirkwood pm module was introduced only in 3.13.x, I've missed it in the patch. Will make sure that it will be added back in the next version.by bodhi - Debian

Except that I don't think we can run Jeff's script for that purpose. You can run Arch Linux ARM script to install a complete system on USB first, and then boots with your own Debian rootfs. Thanks WarheadsSE! I'll let you know after I'm done.by bodhi - uBoot
@WarheadsSE, I've cloned git://git.denx.de/u-boot.git to my local directory. But I'm not sure how do I set my Git to take version 2013.10? do I need use a tag for this? if I do then where do I get that tag? My plan is to create a kirkwood branch from that snapshot, and check in the patches. Thanks.by bodhi - uBoot
pbg4, Thanks for reporting your tests! is there a reason why you're using squeeze for iConnect?by bodhi - Debian

beausolei, Setup a static IP in your rootfs. Example (if your router is 192.168.0.1): #cat /etc/network/interfaces auto lo eth0 iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.0.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 After that if you can ping it, then likely it's booted. Heychrist, At u-boot prompt, try to initialize the Sata disk: ide reset or ide init What do you see? Also, we should try to conform to Jeff's proven settings for Kirkwood plugs: bootm for uInage is at 0x800000, for uInitrd is at 0x110000 (I might miss a zero or two here:)by bodhi - uBoot

@heychris, Good progress! so you are booting a squeeze Stora kernel using my wheezy rootfs. It really has not entirely proved that it has no problem with later kernel 3.x.x! but it is a good start. Linux debian 2.6.33-2-kirkwood #4 Thu Aug 5 18:42:13 UTC 2010 armv5tel I guess later I could take a look to see if the Debian Stora patch can be incorporated into 3.13.1 kernel. heychris, OK. It does look good, relatively. Except for a few things, though: - Even though Debian booted, but the machine was identified incorrectly. It thinks it's a GoFlex Net (it's because you've set the machid to C11). - My kernel does not have Netgear Stora support :) forgot about it! The reason it booted because your arcNumber is 2097 (Marvell reference board). If yby bodhi - uBoot

Cool! I also forgot to mention that the uBoot env is defined at location 0xC0000 (to be consistent with other Kirkwood plugs). # MTD device name Device offset Env. size Flash sector size Number of sectors /dev/mtd0 0xc0000 0x20000 0x20000 That was the reason for the error *** Warning - bad CRC, using default environment Since there is no envs there yet, hence no checksum. I don't see why not. It's in Debian mainline for a long time since squeeze: https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=iscsi&searchon=names&suite=stable§ion=allby bodhi - Debian
Heychrist & kiryl, Here is a test version for 2013.10 U-Boot for Netgear Stora. Please only run it with UART booting (Do not flash to NAND). If it works OK, I will rebuild with clean patch and publish it. Let me know if you can boot with it and see if any problem. The patch is quite old, so I did a major surgery on it to fit with the new u-Boot source code structure!by bodhi - uBoot
If you don't have serial console, then set up netconsole: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,14 Watch the boot log to see if there is any error. If not sure, post the log here.by bodhi - uBoot
@kiryl, Which system do you compile on? the Stora itself? or cross compile on another box?by bodhi - uBoot
