It looks very good. Now when you plug in the HDD,what dmesg says?by bodhi - Rescue System
Thanks for that observation. I'll look for whether any uploading is working at all to confirm.by bodhi - Off-Topic
Did uBoot detect it at all? ie. stop netconsole/serial console and check for SATA (I assume you are using a drive that is plugged into SATA port). ide reset Whether it did recognize the HDD or not. Put my latest rootfs (in signature) on a USB thumb and boot with it. In Debian, plug in the HDD to see if it is detected in dmesg. Then do e2fsck to fix any error.by bodhi - Rescue System

Hey guys, I'm on the road, and carrying the Dockstar with me. I'm at a hotel where the router has uPnP disable (I believe so last time I checked). I also have a travel wifi router with me and plug it in the wire to use as a private wifi network. My Dockstar is connected to this private network. On a whim, I started transmission on the Dockstar to try bittorrent downloading to see ifby bodhi - Off-Topic
@MG, Running kernel 3.12.0-kirkwood-tld-5, if the HDD is mounted at sda1, what's your output of hdparm -C /dev/sda udevadm info --query=all --name=/dev/sda1 mountby bodhi - Debian
Robert, Boot with USB and in Debian get the output of fw_printenv and post here. Netconsole does not show activities after the booting message Starting kernel ... unless you do some extra setup in Debian. Besides, to see all kernel booting activities, you will need serial console. However, this problem might just be that your uBoot envs need some adjustments to boot the HDD, and weby bodhi - Debian

No you did not mess up! that's how you run Debian rootfs (current method is hybrid, Arch kernel Debian rootfs). If you run Arch then instruction at Arch site is all you'd need. There are users working on getting Debian or Arch running fully with later kernel (no hybrid).by bodhi - uBoot
Your machid is 0xdd6 (3542). I suspect that in order to boot the rescue kernel, it must be set to the same as arcNumber. You could try this in netconsole prompt (machid is in hex) setenv arcNumber 2097 setenv machid 831 and then verify it printenv arcNumber printenv machid Do this only in netconsole prompt to see if it's booting, if it is not then it will reverse to the orby bodhi - uBoot
Format the HDD as Ext3. Use this latest rootfs (extract to the HDD per instruction): http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096by bodhi - Debian
Setup either serial console, or netconsole. And while in console try arcNumber 2097 setenv 2097 If it does not boot, pls post the console log here.by bodhi - uBoot

Geo, You'd need to stop netconsole to see full UART booting process. When both are activated at the same time, you stopped UART output at that point. I believe that it should show more output in UART booting. Were both activated when you see these output?by bodhi - uBoot
SOL, If you run Debian then using label for each disk would be the best approach, IMO. If you run Arch without initrd, UUID/PARTUUID is the only way to ensure the recognition, AFAIK. But you can also run Arch with initrd, too (see moonman instructions at ALARM site).by bodhi - Debian
Włodek, I dont have access to the NSA320, and also away from home. Others who have the NSA320 should answer your question. Also see this thread: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,14351by bodhi - Debian
@dhead, blparam (in Arch/stock uBoot) use different location from fw_setenv for uBoot envs (for this uBoot), and writes a differrent checksum too. So mixing usage will corrupt the envs.by bodhi - uBoot

@WarheadsSE I'm thinking along the same line! As soon I can create the clean set of patches for the Goflex Net, Home, Pogo E02, Dockstar, and iConnect, it will be available to be merge into this tree. BTW, I've tested FDT kernel supports for 3 out of those 5 (GF Home and Pogo E02 don't have FDT kernel board files yet).by bodhi - uBoot
Klaus, Yes. I would try UART booting and make sure it works first (some users reported that their Goflex Net does not work with UART booting). I will build new uBoot versions and publish the patch. But it will be in a few weeks (probably in February).by bodhi - uBoot
@dhead, Did you try to put this in the custom_params parameter at the end of bootcmd?by bodhi - uBoot
@Klaus, Yes, it should be possible to load a uBoot binary with tftp into memory, but it will only work for the case where the new uBoot binary is very close to existing one (same size, same layout of code and data). So tftp would not work if the new uBoot is 2013.10 and the existing uBoot is 2011.xx. This is because uBoot was designed to run from the system initial state (after a reset or colby bodhi - uBoot
Geo, Your uBoot envs and boot log look good so far. The one thing I would do is temporarily stop netconsole Boot with your working SD card into Debian and fw_setenv preboot fw_setenv preboot_nc 'run if_netconsole start_netconsole' This way your UART booting will show the entire USB boot process, and hopefully we can see what went wrong. Later, after everything is workingby bodhi - uBoot
Klaus, No problem! I'll be glad to add this SNTP feature to later uBoot builds. It is readily available in mainline uBoot source. But I'm curious: would NTP in Debian solve your issue? It would come up a little later than uBoot SNTP, but it would provide completed NTP functionality, while uBoot SNTP has some limitation. Of course all my patches would be available to everyone! theby bodhi - uBoot
Thanks MG :) very interesting results! I will take a closer look at this. Especially it's a little puzzling why the basic 3.12.0-tld-1 rootfs test shows normal write speed? but kernel 3.12.0-tld-1 installed on a different rootfs shows slow write speed. I could try the same test on my 3.12.0-tld-5 on the Dockstar to see if it behaves differently. For GoFlex Net, I will have to wait till Iby bodhi - Debian
