Gray, The last option is possible, but no procedure/setup is avalable for Debian. I suspect U-boot version has little or nothing to do with it (any version will work). But I am not interested in booting Pogo OS so never looked into this setup.by bodhi - uBoot
@gray, This is how you can install davygravy's U-boot build (I think this is at the moment the one to use, for simplicity and expediency). http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,11663 And you can also use ebbes's build (newer): http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,14697,15533#msg-15533 or malc's build (variant of stock): http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,15091 And yes,by bodhi - uBoot
Neptune, I think it is best that you connect serial console before flashing the latest U-Boot. See varkey's instruction: http://varkey.in/seagate-goflex-net-serial-connection/ Also this discussion about where to get the parts: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?8,13263by bodhi - Rescue System

For various reasons, with U-Bit, I am hesitated to recommend you to go straight to install my latest U-boot build . However, let's look at your U-Bit environment to see if it is safe to install it. At U-Bit prompt, pls get output of these commands and post them here: uname -a cat /proc/mtd cat /etc/fw_env.config fw_printenv which flash_erase which nandwrite dmesgby bodhi - Rescue System
Neptune, OK. It sounds like you should update U-Boot anyway. Here is a post where vlad successfully installed U-boot using Jeff's script (this is an older version of U-boot, but should work and revive your box). After you've done this, boot with Arch rootfs. http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,6965,9111#msg-9111 Warning: updating U-boot always has some risk of bricking. Using Jeffby bodhi - Rescue System

Neptune, If you plan to run Arch then it is best to install the Arch's build of latest U-boot, and use the same Arch rootfs you've already have. Follow steps 13 and 14 here: http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/seagate-goflex-netby bodhi - Rescue System
Neptune, Quotetar -zxvf ArchLinuxARM-kirkwood-latest.tar.gz -C This must be done as root user. Did you log into your Ubuntu as root? QuoteI believe Uboot has to be installed once the goflex boots with the above and I can get SSH access to it. If you've installed Arch a couple years ago, then it was U-Bit, not a standard installation of U-Boot.by bodhi - Rescue System

The command should be (this is the standard mke2fs on your Ubuntu, don't use the downloaded temporary binaries). mke2fs -j /dev/sdb1 Aso, probably you should to use fdisk to delete and create partition to make sure the USB is clean.by bodhi - Rescue System
Neptune, Yes. Do these steps on a different Linux box (If you don't have one then download Linux Live CD and boot your PC or Mac with it).by bodhi - Rescue System
Neptune, IIRC, Arch used to install U-Bit on your GoFlex Net, not the latest U-boot. So to revive your box don't reinstall, follow the instruction at http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/seagate-goflex-net. step 11 to the last step to download the latest ALARM rootfs, prepare the rootfs and, install new u-boot. @hsn, Without serial console, currently it is a little bit risky to get to your goal, i.e. boot with USB and use SATA for data only. There are a couple of alternatives (A or B). A. Install Arch Linux ARM. This option is easiest (fully automated), but no USB booting. http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/zyxel-nsa320 B. Update U-boot and create Debian rootfs on USB. 1. @gray, Yes, the Pogo V4 U-boot is the same as the Mobile. OT, a gigabit switch would cost more than all the Mobiles that plug into it :) do you plan to create a cluster? I'm curious to know if there is a low cost way to do it. Thnx.by bodhi - uBoot
funtoy1001, Yes, but to have it recognized as a whole 3TB disk you need new u-boot: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,12381 If you're running older u-boot, then you can use a hybrid-MBR approach (one really small MBR partition, one large GPT partition).by bodhi - Debian
FYI, There are some bug fixes and code structure reorganization in u-boot-2014.07. So I plan to hold off the rebasing of u-boot-kirkwood until 2014.07 is released (sometime about mid to the end of this month). The Pogo V4 u-boot is ready, but will be released at the same time as other Kirkwood boxes after the 2014.07 rebase.by bodhi - uBoot
I've uploaded the 2014.01-tld-3 u-Boot image for Netgear Stora. This version corrected the missing support for GPT and large HDD booting. Since it has not been tested, please remember to try UART booting first before flashing for real.by bodhi - uBoot

crosser, This question I think would be best answered by WarheadsSE. However, since it is an OX820, I would look at this u-boot (Note that it is not usable as is for your purpose, I've provided only the NAND version for Pogo V3): http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,16017 I think it would need to be adjusted somewhat for your box (clock, 2 SATA ,...). @ingmar_k, As usual, your idea is solid and well thought :) I've thought of starting from a Debian Kirkwood config initially also. But at the end, I chose to start with kref's config to keep it simple so that we can have a stable starting point. I was afraid to get into too much different config options and got bogged down to solving problems. But in retrospect, it might have been beby bodhi - Debian
