Thanks to bodhi and shankargopal for your reply. I tried the Varkey's rootfs. It was pretty easy and works well. I have a couple of questions hope you can answer, though. (1) It was requested that the usb drive should be formatted as ext3. As I know, ext3 has journal files. Will it reduce the life of the flash drive? Will ext2 work also? I used the Squeezeplug method described here http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1730&start=20 and here http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85285&page=62 on a Pogoplug B1 device. It works pretty well for me so far. Is there any advantage using Varkey's rootfs comparing to the Squeezeplug route?by twinclouds - Debian
It appears that Google change the gtalk setting to the original one again(!). Fortunately, in installed (from China :-)) the 1.8.7.0.deb file provide by davidnewton and it works. Thanks! Hopefully I don't have to modify it again. Not sure what game Google is playing.by twinclouds - Debian
I am glad to hear everything works now. I guess I should put a note on my original post. Did you used my previous posts? If you did, which one?by twinclouds - Debian
Not likely. You really don't need to forward any port for the basic setup to work.by twinclouds - Debian
When you are in asterisk -rvvv and try to use soft phone to log in, do you see any response? Please also try to do one "sip show peers". Is you extension that you try to login listed? If not you should check sip.conf.by twinclouds - Debian
You don't need to mount the USB drive. Simply use the pogo /tmp in the internal flash and go from there. It will install Debian on the /dev/sda1 partition on the USB directly.by twinclouds - Debian
I am glad it works now. I only use it for dial out so didn't set up the voice mail. Maybe others can help.by twinclouds - Debian
For Asterisk, the relevant section of my dial plan in the extensions.conf looks like this: exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,1,Set(CALLERID(dnid)=1${CALLERID(dnid)}) exten => _NXXNXXXXXX,n,Goto(1${EXTEN},1) exten => _1NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(Gtalk/gtalk_account/${EXTEN}@voice.google.com) exten => _+1NXXNXXXXXX,1,Dial(Gtalk/gtalk_account/${EXTEN}@voice.google.com) exten => _01186X.,1,Dial(Gtaby twinclouds - Debian

I had the same problem before but it was solved later on. I don't use Wifi adapter right now. You can take a look of this old thread to see if you can find anything interesting: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,563,page=1.by twinclouds - Debian
funtoy1001: Thanks. asterisk222: I installed asterisk without problem. I installed Freepbx on Squeeze before and there's no problem but I am only using asterisk manually without FreePBX. Yes, I compiled Asterisk on Dockstar. The Debian package updated too slow. I don't need Dahdi but that should not be a problem either.by twinclouds - Debian
Anybody had success for problems for Samba using Windows 7? I used to be able to see the samba shares from the Network window but I cannot do that any more. Not sure what's happened. I found the problem was due to router not Samba. I recent the router and everything works. Still don't know why this happened. This morning, it disappeared again. Restart router didn't help tby twinclouds - Debian
If you have compiled the Asterisk in the first place, e.g., as I shown in here: http://forums.plugpbx.org/index.php/topic,247.0.html, the fix is very easy. You simply edit the chan_gtalk.c file to replace the line (redirect = iks_find_cdata(traversenodes, "redirect")) && with the line (redirect = iks_find_cdata(traversenodes, "sta:redirect")) && and recby twinclouds - Debian
I remember I made it work previously but forgot what I did. You can check some old threads including mine to see any suggestions.by twinclouds - Debian

You can do either way. I don't think there will any differences. I just thought using the scripts will be a little bit simple..by twinclouds - Debian
For this purpose, why not simply use Jeff's old scripts that installs Lenny. I never had any problem with it. http://jeff.doozan.com/debian/install_lenny.htmby twinclouds - Debian
I don't know if things have been changed lately. From my previous experience, you cannot restore the original firmware (as the re-flashing article describes) with Jeff's uboot, i.e., with the prompt: "Marvell>>". You need to restore the original uboot, i.e., with the prompt: "ce>>". If someone know this is no longer true, I am interested to know also.by twinclouds - Debian
Sam: This is a Dockstar board.by twinclouds - Debian
It didn't work for me either. I simply deleted: /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules and everything is fine then.by twinclouds - Debian
bastel: Thanks. I have already removed two files: /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules in my previous backed up USB images so they will work on any Dockstar. After upgrade, these files were reinstalled. The easiest way is to remove or rename them to something else. I don't know if there will be any problem without these twoby twinclouds - Debian
I only used /dev/sda1 disk image on my Dockstars, which have been working fine before. I don't see any issues. If you can still boot into the Pugoplug, you can try to install the Lenny first to see if it works. I never have problem with the Lenny installation. If Lenny works but stop working after upgrade, then it is the Squeeze problem. Otherwise, it might be the uboot problem.by twinclouds - Debian
Yes. I had the same problem. Fortunately, I backed up my previous installations. When use the ones backed up a few months ago, every thing were just fine. However, if I do a upgrade or dist-upgrade, it became unresponsive. I have not used the serial cable to check what's wrong yet.by twinclouds - Debian
Can you ssh into it at 192.168.1.75? If you can, you have already the original firmware working. Then do a ping google.com to see if you can get to outside world. If you can reach google, everything should be file. You can reinstall debian or anything else if you like. However, without resolv.com, you might not be able to get DDNS server so you need to set to the direct ip address..by twinclouds - Debian
Looks like you have already installed replaced the uboot, with Jeff's uboot. The indication is that with Jeff's uboot, the prompt is: Marvell>>.... the original uboot will give you a prompt of "ce>>...". As I said before, with Jeff's uboot, the flash of ce_kernel_redstone_v63.img and etc will not work. The key now is how to reflash back the original ubootby twinclouds - Debian
As you probably already know, you will need the original uboot. Jeff's one will not work for this purpose. This is probably why you tried to find the original uboot in the first place. I learned it the hard way. However, when I did the reflash, my Debian still worked. I flash the original uboot under Debian. If it does not, what you are going to reflash the original uboot in the firstby twinclouds - Debian
