Oleg,

They all boot OK with some problems. Except for the Verbatim mtd0 image, it is the correct stock u-boot for this box.

Both the iConnect and the Pogo E02 u-boot have some problem early on. The memory is incorrect, it showed 128MB RAM.

And the reason the iConnect and the Pogo E02 stopped booting because your rootfs still have the DTB embedded inside uImage. It is expected.

So the bottom line is you have proven that you have a rescue path with the Verbatim mtd0 image.

But the 3 new 2017.07 u-boots (Stora, iConnect, and Pogo E02) can not be used for this Verbatim MediaShare 47490 box.

So stay with stock u-boot.

Now you can start installing Debian packages to do whatever you need to run on this box. See the Wiki for tutorials when you are looking for certain subjects.

There is one more thing to do: set up the /etc/fw_env.config file so that you can read/write u-boot envs while in Debian.

I need to look at your boot log again to find info for this.

That something should be done to have a rescue system in case the USB or HDD are broken.

You need to post the orginal u-boot envs before changing them (you just did to boot Debian). And the current u-boot envs. And I'll show you how to modify the envs to boot stock OS in NAND when no drive are attached (or when they are not working properly).

No. The envs needed to be listed in serial console, not in Debian.

The 1st envs listing should be the original stock definition.

The 2nd envs listing should be the current one.

Note that by setting and saving the envs, you have replaced the original bootcmd to the one below:

bootcmd=usb start; run usb_bootcmd; usb stop; reset

So I need to see the orginal stock bootcmd to show you to boot back to stock on NAND.

I meant log in to stock OS on the 2nd box. Did you install Debian on the 2nd box, too?

If you did save envs on both boxes while installting Debian, then you've lost the original envs settings. That makes it a little harder to run stock in NAND again.

But I have a blparam binary somewhere, I will post it here if you cannot run stock on the 2nd box.

To set up booting stock when the USB drive is not plugged in, or the drive has problem.

On the experimental box. Remove the USB rootfs. Power up, interrupt serial console and,

I had a typo! It should be a single quote at the end of bootcmd_stock.

At this point there is more going on, we just cannot see it with stock kernel.

Since you have serial console, you already have a rescue mechanism should anything go wrong.

Stock OS is too limited, you cannot do much with it. And it is also insecure.

I would suggest runing Debian permanently on USB rootfs or SATA rootfs. Use this box to learn Linux.
