hi Joe you will get some decent information if you look at the var.log you will see output from the X11 server and this should give you some information to share and hopefully get a resolution. Cheersby Gravelrash - Debian
@Joey sorry for such a long time in coming back to you. i have been busy with my other projects - classic scooter restoration - I run iptables on one of my plugs and i use it to capture http traffic and send it to an adblocker.by Gravelrash - Off-Topic
Hi Joe Once you go plug and thinclient you never go back :) - well its true in my case...by Gravelrash - Off-Topic
what router are you using? is it one of the many many compromised ones. you could build yourself and Intrusion Detection System..... that would be one heck of a use for a pplug. a nightmare build tho. just a couple of links as an idea lead.... https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/58e72888-6340-46ac-b488-d31aa4058e9c/entry/august_8_2012_12_01_pm6?lang=en http://www.aboutdby Gravelrash - Off-Topic
@joey have a look at chromixium for your thinclient-desktop-replacement. i think once you have it installed you will be pleasantly surprised at how well it runs. on a low spec thinclient its far far leaner than mint. http://itsfoss.com/chromixiumos-released/ http://chromixium.wikidot.com/minimum-requirements http://chromixium.org/by Gravelrash - Off-Topic
sound like you are heading for a thinclient terminal desktop computing experience.... checkout LTSP as a starter for 10by Gravelrash - Off-Topic
hmmmm - if you have got systemd and sysvinit working on the Pro - i wonder how long it will be before the archlinuxarm chaps will be before they reintroduce support for the Pro there.?by Gravelrash - Off-Topic
@joey if those devices are making high pitch squealing that isnt fan related....they are faultyby Gravelrash - Off-Topic
Stick with bodhi's - you cant go far wrong and as most if not all the people on here use it its fairly well tested and there are people around to assist if you have a problemby Gravelrash - Debian
@pepar i have used many different types of usb hdd / flash sticks and use the one you mention in your original post. On these devices and as long as you follow the points made above you should have no issues. 1) Always boot the usb flash drive or adapted hardware from the USB 2. * socket 2) Wipe any and all partitions that exist from the manufacturer and create your own 3) if bootiby Gravelrash - Debian
sometning like...boot off DSL and navigate to the /etc/fstab file on the 10Zig unit. edit the file and modify the ro to rw it should look something like /dev/sda1 / ext3 defaults 0 0 or /dev/sda1 / ext4 noatime,discard,errors=remount-ro 0 1 when finishedby Gravelrash - Off-Topic
Thanks Jeorg_999 There are quite a few people and viewers on the forum that will find this useful and very helpful. WELL DONE and Thankyou for sharingby Gravelrash - uBoot
@Joey if this is to believed, then they will be building it using an allwinner A(x) series processor and the price is based on an economiy of scale pricing model. It will be delivered as a standalone board, into which you will need to buy (at least) 1 interface card at the very least to give you any kind of I.O access, so the price then jumps straight away to more than 9 dollars. as forby Gravelrash - Off-Topic
if you could translate and post here entitled "HOWTO ----------" that would be very helpfulby Gravelrash - uBoot
so does this mean we will be changing the variables in the uboot settings?by Gravelrash - Debian
@Joey you could always purge the x* installation you have and try this one; obviously omitting the arduino stuff http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,19514,19545#msg-19545 : courtesy of monkmandolinsby Gravelrash - Off-Topic
