Another vote for keeping things simple and using a swapfile versus swap partition. #This will create a 1024MB swap file #Named "swapfile.img" in /media/usb (USB HD). dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/usb/swapfile.img bs=1M count=1024 mkswap /media/usb/swapfile.img #update swap file permissions chmod 0600 /media/usb/swapfile.img #You can now turn the swap file on using: swapon /mby grayman4hire - Debian

@bodhi, thanks for the reply and confirmation that this isn't normal. Maybe it something funky with the USB TTY Serial Adapter I'm using or maybe it's related to SCREEN connection.by grayman4hire - uBoot
Hello, I noticed that when I have my serial/UART connection plugged into Pogoplug, it will halt at the uBoot "PogoV4>" prompt, but if I don't have the serial connection plugged in, it will continue correctly and boot Debian from my USB drive. Is there a uBoot configuration setting that will tell the uboot to continue even when the serial connection is detected? I have a boby grayman4hire - uBoot
I like the Zytel NSA325. 512MB and 1.6Ghz CPU. It's not cheap, but I've seen it on sale for around $120. http://archlinuxarm.org/platforms/armv5/zyxel-nsa325by grayman4hire - Debian
Thanks @bodhi for the clarification. @TheDoo, some info and advice... 1) If you're planning on using your USB Hard Drive, create two partition on it and install Debian on one of them. This would avoid any bootup issue. 2) You can update the uBoot parameters from Debian. 3) If you followed the tutorial correctly and completely you should be able to boot into the default Pogoplug OS whby grayman4hire - uBoot

I did mention the following and have it in nice bold black in the picture :) Make sure GND on the Pogoplug is connected to GND on the USB to TTL converter. TXD on the Pogoplug should connect to RXD on the USB to TTL converter. @vaidyasr, are you using a gigabit switch between the Pogoplug and the other machine? Does the other machine have a gigabit ethernet adapter? 11.7MB is around the limit of a 100MB network. That doesn't really explain why you bootcmd is set wrong. The default uboot environment parameter image should have set it correctly. "bootcmd=run boot_nand" should be "bootcmd=run bootcmd_usb; run bootcmd_mmc; run bootcmd_sata; reset" See @bluechalk's post for the correct default uboot parameters - http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,18024 At any rate, letby grayman4hire - uBoot

@monkmandolins, Assuming you followed the tutorial correctly up until the point where you executed the wget command (wget http://archlinuxarm.org/os/ArchLinuxARM-kirkwood-latest.tar.gz), you should be good with following Bodhi's instruction on setting up your USB drive on another Linux computer. You can try my tutorial here - http://blog.qnology.com/2014/07/hacking-pogoplug-v4-series-4-and-mobile.html It's designed for a new Pogoplug, but it should provide you will enough details to switch from Arch to Debian. 1) Upgrade uBoot 2) Setup new USB drive with Debian rootfsby grayman4hire - Debian

I already answered this question in the Arch Linux ARM forum, but wanted to provide the answer here for future readers. ArchLinuxArm has switched to the new mainline uBoot (away from Jeff's uBoot). The new mainline uboot (2014.04.R4-1) installation script doesn't properly set back the default MTD partition layout for the E02. The default partition layout for E02 is the follow: mtby grayman4hire - Rescue System
I have a Pogoplug Pro and P22 (as labeled on the bottom of the pogoplug itself) that I want to get up and running with Debian and/or Arch. @bodhi, Looking more closely at this, it doesn't look like you have the default uboot env set correctly. set_bootargs_mmc=setenv bootargs console=$console root=$mmc_root rootdelay=$rootdelay rootfstype=$rootfstype $mtdparts set_bootargs_sata=setenv bootargs console=$console root=$sata_root rootdelay=$rootdelay rootfstype=$rootfstype $mtdparts set_bootargs_usb=setenv bootargs consolby grayman4hire - uBoot
