Peter Thanks for doing the hotplugging stuff. That really helps. Also, Displaylink stuff is also excellent, so I can use bigger monitor. I'm in the process of checking version 06. I haven't had problems with the 5 dollar lcd. What I am having problems with is Displaylink stuff. I'm thinking maybe divide the page into 2 or 3 sections. Because it seems commands are dby rgtaa - Displays
Peter The start up s2005 term (run as root): export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH # to find librote ./st2205term --font=tiny --picframe=/dev/sdb --keyboard=/dev/input/event0 --keymap=./us.kmap is very confusing, maybe try it on one of your dockstars for Displaylink support.by rgtaa - Displays
Peter Nice, like the webpage Now, that is it main stream, maybe someone will come up for a way to do hotplug type thing andr keyboard combo's to launch different lcd programs on it. That would be cool. control 1 turns lcd into root access control 2 turns lcd into lcd ip address/time/date network status control 3 turns lcd into news feeds control 4 starts "startx" maby rgtaa - Displays
Peter Would there be a way that if I plugged in keyboard , there would be way to have like control p or control t and it would launch LCD program. That way I could plug in lcd any time. Not sure if by doing this, we could launch different programs on the lcd screen, so we could have for example : control plus number 1 could launch lcd root access control plus number 2 could launchby rgtaa - Displays
Peter Since we could plug in keyboard or mouse at any time and it would work, I wonder if there is same type of setting that could be used, so whenever lcd is plugged in , the program launches.by rgtaa - Displays
Peter Yup! That did it! :)by rgtaa - Displays
Peter! Yes. As long as I keep it small font, I'm fine. I can do apt-get update and edit using nano . I don't know how to exit nano. Usually I use control x but those commands might be next level of keyboard commands. Not sure what to do about that. Nice job, I was surprised you were able to do it all today. I'm impressed.by rgtaa - Displays
Peter I tried large font but small seems to work and it didn't hang when I did apt-get update.by rgtaa - Displays
Peter! Oh YEAH! :) Thanks bro!by rgtaa - Displays
Peter I still can't get it to work, I would like the shorter prompt, not sure what to add exactly, could you look at my rc.local and just add the line to it so I will just cut and paste. I wasn't sure if it needs to have added the directory thing, since I have to use the libary line from this directory: cd st2205term-alpha-0.02 I don't need this line anymore ,right? /inby rgtaa - Displays
Peter You are amazing! You did it! Very cool. You , Jeff and Gorgone have turned our dockstars into an amazing device. Thanks guys. What is the way to get this program to start on start up? This is my current rc.local what would be the line to add in this so I get root access like this. #!/bin/bash rdate ptbtime1.ptb.de >/dev/null & echo 2 > /proc/cpu/alignment echo defauby rgtaa - Displays
Peter I'm stuck at this, can you check to make sure it's the right tar command? Then compile st2205term... cd /root tar xvfz st2205term-alpha-0.01.tgz Would this be the right way to download that file wget http://forum.doozan.com/file.php?2,file=40,filename=st2205term-alpha-0.01.tgz,download=1 >st2205term-alpha-0.01.tgzby rgtaa - Displays
Peter Cool. I just checked slugterm page and that is exactly what I'm interested in and it shows root access. Is there a way to make it so the lcd only would have 4 or 8 lines on it so we could have much bigger font size. The font size on the picture frame where it shows the menu I can see no problems and is 8 lines and probably can hold 10-12 characters each line.by rgtaa - Displays
Peter I made the mistake of not removing all the old stuff from the file I edited. Once I just put what you gave me, it worked PERFECT. Thanks a lot for your help. It's gonna be cool playing with the stuff you create on the little screen. Not sure if ROOT access would be possible , but it would be cool to log into debian from the tinny screen. :)by rgtaa - Displays
Peter still no luck with start up stuff yet, I'm afraid to post linux script here, since I'm doing it wrong and crashing the system. What program are you using to put your linux sutff inside the boxes. I'll try that. You mentioned that my local.rc is using a different way to do stuff then the one you are using. Could you share what you are using and I'll do apt-get toby rgtaa - Displays
Jeff I can't remember if it crashed in preview or not, I think it is just linux code that is crashing it, right? I see others put stuff in the boxes , cut and paste stuff, are they using "pastebin.com" program or something else. I'm sorry everybody for crashing this room, I was trying to get feedback on why my program wouldn't start on start up and pasted some ofby rgtaa - Displays
Peter I still get nothing in /tmp directory. I did get the other log, and I think I did a "bad" thing, I attempted to post it here and I see it crashed the room. It was big log file. :) Is there a part of the x.org.0. log that you want me to post, the whole thing is big! ;) Peter you can start both monitor and 5 dollar LCD from your dockstar, could you post what you have in yby rgtaa - Displays
Thanks Peter Can you start monitor and lcd 5 dollar screen from start up script? If you can , can you post your /etc/rc.local so I can compare it to mine. I'm thinking I followed your guide so it should be the same, right? here is my /etc/rc.local #!/bin/sh -e # # set date rdate ptbtime1.ptb.de >/dev/null & # #oscam system compat echo 2 > /proc/cpu/alignment #by rgtaa - Displays
Can you check out your /etc/rc.local file because I can't get either program to work. Here is my /etc/rc.local I tried it a couple of ways since I wasn't sure if I needed /root/ first or not , I tried it both ways from the 5 dollar screen. And I can't get startx to start on startup. #!/bin/sh -e # # set date rdate ptbtime1.ptb.de >/dev/null & # #oscam system cby rgtaa - Displays

gee I tried installing everything and I can't get it to work with my EVGA 16plus usb to vga adapter.
