Arch Linux on Lenovo ix2 NAS stuck at Starting kernel

bodhi,

I have now checked everything again and I only mistyped the name of the hard drive that is to be shared via Samba. I am now copying the first data to the NAS. The data is being transferred at about 30mb/s. Is this normal or is there more possible? Because a maximum of 125mb/s would be possible via the LAN cable.

Look in the Wiki thread to see if people have benchmarks for Samba file transfer.

Okay Thank You

Jan is there a particular reason why you need to use Samba? You'll get much better performance if you use NFSv4 to serve files than using Samba. Even Windows should be able to mount an NFSv4 share.

rayknight,
no, there is no particular reason why I use Smaba. So bodhi said I should use Samba. And in your opinion NFSv4 is better? Does it run well on a Lenovo ix2 NAS? If so could you give me some instructions on how to do this?

Jan_Grz1,

That's not quite accurate! if you can set up NFS on your Windows box then you should use NFS.

https://www.howtoforge.com/tutorial/install-nfs-server-and-client-on-debian/ has good instructions for setting up a Debian system to serve files via NFS. https://winsides.com/how-to-enable-services-for-nfs-in-windows-11/ is one guide for setting up Windows 11 to use an NFS file share.

bodhi,

sorry for the wrong statemen from me.

rayknight,

So I did a few tests and measured only about 7-8mb/s speed with NFS when transferring data and about 30mb/s with Samba. Did I do something wrong? Because according to your statements NFS should be faster.
