Vlad, nice article, nice details, and very good use of all the resources... clear implementation, as well. This was very useful just now since I'd just picked up a Zyxel NSA-320 (1.2GHz Kirkwood, 512MB SDRAM, 2 SATA bays) for really cheap. Since the neither the Debian netinstallers nor Jeff's scripts support it, this turned out to be the way to go. The only change I made was toby davygravy - Debian

(don't buy a JTAG cable, you only need serial access) do you have netconsole capability?by davygravy - Debian
Hi Bo, I understand what you are asking... and I figured out that I had a "bad link" in the top-of-thread-post... it should be... U-Boot with L2-Cache Disable@Boot Feature ... I mistakenly had that leading back to the same article, IIRC... You will need a newer U-Boot to run (default-ish) 3.2 and higher kernels... that version of U-Boot for the goflex is running right nowby davygravy - Debian

Mr M: How about GoFlex & Others Kernel 3.3.2 here : http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,7676 It is newer and has the fix for the NAND problem that many people saw while booted in Linux.by davygravy - Debian
I'm guessing that the timing may be a bit different when initiated from an embedded device... I added some more details in... and actually test-proof-ran it the whole way through... I hope it works for you.by davygravy - uBoot
kk, no problem, no rush. In the mean time I'll write up directions in details and test drive them here... but first one thing... I'm not sure whether or not you want to keep your Pogoplug original software intact. I've never done a restore to factory state on one of these PogoV4 boxes... I don't have a procedure for that. If you want to keep copies of your contents, yoby davygravy - uBoot
What kind of workstation do you have? Linux hopefully, perhaps Ubuntu or Debian on an Intel or AMD desktop?by davygravy - uBoot
It is my understanding that it is similar to the case of the GoFlex Net, inthat you can place a drive there and it will work/connect but it won't be physically as stable as it should be. FWIW, I saw a GoFlex Case for a 3.5 inch drive for 10$ and bought that, but not yet delivered.by davygravy - Debian
That's odd. The only code that was changed between those two had no connection w/ SATA. Mine is booting reliably from both SATA ports. Reproducible and persistently. Until I can see actual output from your serial, I think it may be some environmental variable in your boot command sequence that is either wrong or not specific enough. hmmm... I think I see it... try a different address to "go" ...and remember the 1st 512k (0x200) are for the kwb header... tftpboot 0x800000 <filename> go 0x800200 this might still yield a false negative... executing a uboot bin in ram from TFTP is not officially supported... it is really a kind of chained RAM uboot setup and they don't actually support it... sby davygravy - uBoot

Yes, Google for "shyd squeeze script" and you'll find it. Simply use shyd's script in place if Jeffs and you should be good to go. EDIT. see here instead. http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,4244,4587#msg-4587by davygravy - Debian

@ Major_Tom007: I've found a minor problem (the arcNumber hook was smashed, fixed that)...and rerolled it... new version is posted above...by davygravy - uBoot
U-Boot now supports booting from both SATA ports on the GoFlex Net. The prior behavior was that only the right side port would work - one could only SATA-boot from an SATA HDD connected to the right side. This is now fixed, due to a patch posted by Simon Baatz. (thank you, Simon) The relevant U-Boot thread is here: http://lists.denx.de/pipermail/u-boot/2012-April/122594.html As all the doby davygravy - uBoot
@ major_tom007: At your own risk...(sorry, we all gotta do that disclaimer thingy...) here is a tar.gz of the U-Boot that I just finished testing on my GoFlex Net... it will enable __both__ SATA ports for booting. Make sure you __untar__gunzip___ before flashing. Flashing directions for it are the same as on the Pogoplug V2, and the Dockstar. I'd really appreciate testing w/ resby davygravy - uBoot
Booting from either SATA port (right or left) is now possible. Acks & thanks to Simon Baatz who brought this to us working on Kirkwood dual SATA units, as he, Gerald Kerma and Luka Perkov have been working hard a pair of other such devices (the ICY BOX NAS6210 and NAS6220) supported in mainline U-Boot. Let's not dissuade problem solving and improved solutions. Why discourage that sort of thing? Especially if you are not the person setting up the bounty/offer/challenge...
