Not sure at all... the NASCentral Zyxel forum has a _lot_ of discussion going on about the 310... http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=249&t=5145&sid=907581778f8b0a5c0aa3b103bcfeba31 ... ?? hth, davy (gee, LS Pro... that was a long time ago ;^) )by davygravy - uBoot
You'll have to search around for NSA310 stuff. It is my understanding that it has a slightly different combination of components, perhaps an intel ethernet. (?) Subtle differences should be understood before proceeding.by davygravy - uBoot

I doubt it. You'd need a larger heatsink, and it might not be stable anyway. http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/seagate/dockstar#overclocking.and.underclocking tells specifics of why this is probably a bad idea.by davygravy - Debian
Bio: I don't know why I didn't think of this before: Try downloading this: see if it works for you: (EDIT: TESTED and WORKS) http://ppl.ug/uwKjFfOXzk8/ I don't have the original GFN uboot, but I found one at NeutronScott's... I've tested it and it worked... I was able to restore the original U-Boot to my GFN. I took mtd1 (kernel uImage) & mtd2 (rootfs) froby davygravy - Debian
From what I can see it isn't clear to me how to do this from within U-Boot. FWIW, there is an OpenWRT howto here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/seagate/dockstar#backup which matches pretty closely w/ what I was thinking in terms of doing it from w/i Linux. But be advised : that is a DockStar, which is similar to a GFN in some respects... maybe different in some crucial way. Also, jby davygravy - Debian
This tutorial/howto describes how to boot certain Kirkwood machines via UART/serial connection. Though there are at least three different utilities that support this, the kwboot tool by Daniel Stodden is the focus here. kwboot is, in my opinion, perhaps the best of this genre of utility, and has been submitted to U-Boot mainline for inclusion in tools/. I'm pretty sure that Jeff's (and Shyd's) scripts dump and to /tmp ... Let me take a look. ... OK, you can do this from inside Linux on the unmodded GFN... The stuff you need to look at/think about... http://projects.doozan.com/uboot/install_uboot_mtd0.sh its in here ^^^^ # dump the first 512k of mtd0 to /tmpby davygravy - Debian
I'm pretty sure Jeffs script would have the correct commands. (I don't always use it - prolly why I didnt consider this before. )by davygravy - Debian
Well, at least you know your box is (seemingly) not compromised/semi-broken. Yes, it is possible that the NAND-dump process needed some sort of ECC consideration... Do you have the output of the commands when you dumped the mtdN's? (I sometimes keep output of crucial steps as reference for further comparison...)by davygravy - Debian
I'm not sure but it sounds like your mtd0 backup could be faulty. As a test you could just install the Newer U-Boot that is posted for the GFN in the thread named Newer U-Boot.... Make Sure you use the exact commands shown. Good luck.by davygravy - Debian
Hey Biohead, somethings weird there. To me it looks like the output suggests that your GFN has 512MB dram. Precisely, 2 banks of 256MB. That doesn't look right. Any chance your UART uboot is from the wrong machine ?by davygravy - Debian
Yes, that does look like a flag (definitely!), but I'm not sure it is an "obituary" for the NAND. It is possible that if you get it booted into something, you may be able to flash (using nandwrite) from Linux. It's just a thought. Which UART.kwb is this? Is it Neutron Scott's? I've never tried it (I made my own UART.kwb, from the newer U-Boot that I rolled foby davygravy - Debian

Hi Peter, thank you for pointing that out. I'm guessing that it changed from /proc/mcu to /sys/class/hwmon when lm-sensors changed? Or maybe this was some other (kernel-based?) change? Anyway, you are correct, I see, and it does work just fine. There is a nanddump (IIRC) binary somewhere in Jeff's downloads... dunno exactly where... but I'm pretty sure it is here somewhere (semi-quasi-documented)... Sounds like great idea to me. I know that some router forums keep commonly used (or lost!) NAND dumps here and there for recovery purposes...by davygravy - Debian
Here is a tarball ( link 1 link 2 ) with all components for basic support for the Zyxel NSA320 (512MB sdram, dual SATA NAS , kirkwood SoC - all in a nice box). The tarball contains: a complete rootfs w/ Debian 6.0 Squeeze & a 3.3.2 Linux Kernel, ready to boot a NAND U-Boot for the NSA320, with default-enabled netconsole and booting presets a 3.3.2 kernel config (for reference) a verby davygravy - Debian
Take a look at Neutron Scott's modified picocom that is ideal for this purpose. He explains briefly how to run it here: http://wiki.scottn.us/goflex:start#serial_recovery and he also has a precompiled binary for it... and yes, even a UART.kwb for it as well. Timing is a tricky thing on them... you have to get it just right. When I started out, I initially got it to UART-boot onlyby davygravy - Debian
Well, "works" depends on who you talk to, in some cases. Certainly "boots the device and establishes normal USB & ethernet function" is one aspect of "works". But many of the GoFlex Net/Home devices have a flash chip that has a timing problem w/ the Sheevaplug eSATA kernel. The symptom of this problem is loss of access to NAND partitions while booted in Linuxby davygravy - uBoot

ahh... well, maybe here: http://archlinuxarm.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=789 These should give you the gist of things... I'd start by thinking about something like this...but do some reading & research - ie. check them for sanity... My guess is that you should be able to tftpload them, and then flash it into NAND. It should be pretty much the same as a NAND restore. You'd of course want to be careful w/ the offsets (locations) and lengths & such. Are you restoring _all_ of your NAND? Or just the Pogo OS? Or just U-Boot?by davygravy - Debian
Yes, both of my items ($10 GoFlex Home & $10 GoFlex Home Drive Enclosure) arrived and are as advertised. Pleased for $20. The speed of the SATA connection is, well, fast (hhmmm... like it is SATA). Good form factor, small footprint.by davygravy - Debian

Hmmm...let me look... Maybe that was the one thing I forgot to repatch. (though after looking at the code, it looks like I did indeed patch it) There is nothing wrong w your uboot and whatever you do don't scrub it.
