what does apt-get update yield?by davygravy - Debian
In my opinion, it is safest to replace it from within U-Boot, from either serial console or netconsole. I've not tried it from the Linux side, but I suppose you could do it using the same commands/binaries that are present in Jeff's script. Varkey, are you interested in putting together a script to update uboot? Jeff and I have talked about it... but I'm snowed under with soby davygravy - uBoot

Which machine you you have? Which U-Boot did you use to update? Are you sure you put the correct U-Boot on the correct machine ? Dockstar, GoFlex, and Pogoplug U-Boot kwb files are all similar, yet have differences that would cause them to not be interchangeable... I'm using all of these same U-Boots and have tested them extensively... so I don't think the problem is w/ the U-Booby davygravy - uBoot
Loading file "/boot/uInitrd" from usb device 0:1 (usbda1) ** File not found /boot/uInitrd the uInitrd isn't found. That's likely to be a problem. I've got a ready made rootfs that will run on anything. See the Zyxel thread and after downloading just use the rootfs but not the zyxels uboot http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,7806 My Pogoplug is running that same iby davygravy - uBoot
Whatever you do, get netconsole turned on ASAP. Also a kernel that has the correct timing for the NAND chips is important so you can access env via fw_set/printenv. Good luckby davygravy - Debian
Bohdi, I can't remember all the details for sure, but I know that one point was that the software/OS in the GoFlex Net was _not_ pogoplug, but rather a similar thing from Seagate... I got frustrated w/ it before I realized that a pogoplug CE ID was not going to work (it had different # of digits and symbols, IIRC). Maybe the serial number was the default password? ??? You'll need a newer U-Boot for the newer kernels, BTW. http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?3,6965by davygravy - Debian
If you want, you can try the wide kernel that I have posted: http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,7676 ... tested and working on about 5 different machines.by davygravy - Debian
Also wondering... 3.3.2 is fine - no bugs, and 3.4.1 is just around the corner. There _is_ a minor bug in the older U-Boots (not disabling the L2 cache just before decompressing the kernel), and I actually thought it wasn't a bug until I saw that some of the Marvell (OEM) U-Boots did have this L2C disable setting available. To each their own, though. If it works great for you, more poweby davygravy - Debian

Well, a ubifs image is quite different from a initramfs image... apples and oranges... or maybe apples and porcupines - very different things. It certainly isn't corrupt... I just flashed it to my Dockstar/WirelessBridge at work and it works great on it, too. It did exactly what it should do... it _shouldn't_ be compatible with loading to RAM and running it that way... Tested in Dockstar and PogoplugE02. (DEPRECATED : use either Jeff's V2, the 2.1 that I put up or whatever higher replacement that you see available and test) Changes: 1. Kernel now supports GoFlex Net/Home completely, with NAND access fix, Zyxel NSA3x0 series. 2. Fixed ntdp failure. 1. If you need to change your password, make the filesystem rw, and then execute the passwd command - you should be able to do this from serial connection, IIRC. 2. Everything you saw sounds familiar. BTW, you shouldn't wipe any variables, rather just add or change the ones I showed. They will allow it to boot and to communicate w the Pogoplug main server. Good luckby davygravy - Debian
