You can't run the stock OS unless you pick up a used unit that was previously deployed. A new unit will attempt to download and install the stock firmware. This will fail as the URL used is no longer valid and re-directs to what most AV software thinks is a known malware distribution site. I won't have time to work on this again until the weekend, but I have been able to boot Debianby rayknight - Debian
I had both of my ON100-K9's attached via Ethernet to my router so they were picking up a DHCP address. I didn't have any problems getting output from either header, on one box the output from the header nearest the board edge was corrupt, I believe from a bad solder joint on the header pins. Have you checked to ensure you don't have RX and TX reversed? I was also able to UAby rayknight - Debian
HP T5325 appears to have an issue with fw_printenv. I've booted a USB drive prepared with Debian-4.4.0-kirkwood-tld-1-rootfs-bodhi.tar.bz2 according to instructions and the following contents in the fw_env.config file: /dev/mtd0 0x00000 0x10000 0x10000 Issuing the fw_printenv command results in the following: root@debian:~# fw_printenv Warning: Bad CRC, using default environmenby rayknight - uBoot
Solved my problem by using another USB drive. The cheap 8GB Emtec stick I used appears to have been the issue. Now using a 4GB SanDisk drive with no issues. Rayby rayknight - uBoot

For the Cisco ON100 documentation: Downloading and installing the base software image (requires Internet connection). You will only see this pattern prior to activation (during out-of-box installation) or after a factory reset. So out of the box the unit must install the software image from a now obsolete download site that it appears has been re-directed to a malware site. Good job Ciscoby rayknight - Debian
I received my second unit last night, but unfortunately I've got a busy week and may not have time to get back to this until this weekend. Regarding speculation above about SATA ports, I don't see them exposed anywhere. Rayby rayknight - Debian

I still can't boot the box consistently without intervention. It seems to have something to do with the bootargs environment. Below is a log of a session where booting to Debian root was successful. It took manually entering some commands at u-boot prompt to get there. Note that parsing of environment variables seems to have a bug in that it the set_bootargs environment does not have anby rayknight - Debian

A fairly current u-boot for both DNS-320 and DNS-325 can be built from lentinj github. You'll want to check out the dns320_v4 branch. Rayby rayknight - uBoot

This system has been abandoned by Cisco and is easily available on ebay for between $11 and $30. It has a Marvell 88F6282 @ 1.6Ghz with 512MB RAM and 512MB NAND Flash. Two Gigabit Ethernet ports, 1 USB slot and an SD Card slot. One of the Ethernet ports supports 802.3af PoE and the Marvell RTC appears to be backed by a battery. There are two serial ports on board. OK, I've now located another serial port on the board! This one has clean output and successfully UART booted! The 4-pin header on the board is problematic. But just behind it are 4 holes with the pins in the opposite orientation that successfully UART booted the system!! I am also able to stop the NAND u-boot code after the 'Hit any key to stop autoboot' message. Below is tby rayknight - uBoot
Build process for u-boot for Cisco ON100-K9 creates two files: u-boot-db88f6282bp_400ddr3db_nand.bin u-boot-db88f6282bp_400ddr3db_uart.bin Nand is the image for booting from nand and uart is supposed to be image for booting from uart. Source is based from U-Boot 1.1.4 and the uart.bin image does have the appropriate 0x69 value at byte 0. Trying your suggestion above I went throughby rayknight - uBoot

I just ran into another Kirkwood device that uses SPI flash instead of NAND. The GlobalScale DreamPlug has u-boot on 2MB SPI NOR and then boots linux from an internal microSD card. I believe that the D-Link DIR-665 is also using SPI NOR, but has 16MB of flash. Rayby rayknight - uBoot
Not sure whether anyone has reported success with a Netgear Stora yet, but I can confirm that all works great! I had a Netgear Stora that was hanging with a corrupted U-Boot 1.1.4. I was unable to boot to NAND or USB. So I created a Debian USB flash drive and then successfully used kwboot to boot the 2016.05 u-boot from this forum and loaded Debian from the flash drive. I have the U-Boot 1.1.4 source source code for the Cisco ON-100. The documentation says to run the following commands: make mrproper make db88f6282bp_config NBOOT=1 DDR=3 FREQ=400 make I am assuming the db88f6282bp_config is a configuration file I should be able to find somewhere, but I can't seem to locate it!
