Nice, I'll have to keep one of those in mind too - almost got from eBay and didn't quite. Tell us something habibie, your last version, did anything really surprise you that you weren't expecting?by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
(E02 dosen't have SATA) One thing I've established on my E02 is that a USB 3.0 stick has 2-8 times faster ins and outs, but I kick myself for not trying something. And that's to have two USB 3.0 sticks, one for OS and another for payload. I don't have any extra USB 3.0 sticks to try it either, but maybe someone else does. Seems the absolute IO limit is 30-15 and that'by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Wow that Lenovo is hotter than a two-dollar pistol. Making me blush. Quite impressed but is out of my price range. There's one other in my travels that looks perfect: Oh well I'll take it day to day.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
The title really nails it. And since I'm probably the most Linux device newb around these parts but with extensive time spent on Windows, I'd like to present my Pogoplug Problem-solving Playground. As you know better than me there are both fantastic limitations as well as possibilities with these toys. What I have, listed: 1. 1 x E02 Kirkwood 2. 2 x PogoPro Oxnas 3. 1 x Pogoplug 4by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

Great stuff, a thousand thank yous. I emailed the manager at Best Buy and told him my concerns (edit-out humor but off topic) His reply is this, an Insignia Flex 10.1 I'm just pasting it here for reference as I have some errands to run. biabby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
My cup overfloweth, much thank yous! Just to mention, lady next door, standing there with her iPhone 6S (I'd asked about her iPad and she didn't mention selling it), said to keep in mind the benefits of buying locally at like Best Buy. This makes sense since they're good about price matching and may have an extended plan. Worse comes to worse I could get a Blue Yeti micropby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Thank you very much for the Wiki-grade analysis. If indeed I'm limited to that unit then at least I know what I'm in for. And luckily I do happen to have two new laptop batteries that don't fit mine, got them at Goodwill for cheap. I'll re-read this and let it sink in. I might even ask directly at the seller's site to identify the hardware if a person decided to vby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
It's safe to say I'm not on my feet. Midlife (to say the least) I had some heart problems two years ago and decided it was a good time to make a home cloud, from one pocket change to another. Knock on wood late this week I've got a birthday coming up, and it makes sense to try if humanly possible to get a tablet. This one looks decent, quadcore, but lacks wired networking and is oby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

As a public service to anyone in the US, who wonders if there's a speed difference ordering from China or Hong Kong, I ordered one of these from each of them. Its as they say "non-scientific", but somewhere between Wed. Apr. 13 and Tue. May. 17, we'll see which one had "luck" on its side. Any predictions? Wow! Yeah on top of my carry toolbox are two accessories, one is a wall plug with only 10 feet of ground wire (when I soldered the Pogo v4's resistor), and a wrist wrap. So I'm pretty serious about that one step, as I see we all are. Good to know. Also I don't mean to sound like I fixed computers at a carpet shop, but when I was in AITP we'd fix computers for the less fortby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

Blasphemy, heresy you cry! A bit perhaps, but bear with me a bit. There's an app called WinToUSB, that I was thunderstruck tonight getting Windows 7 (x86) to install and boot up my 10ZiG ThinClient. It works, but there's an important point to raise. If you run WinToUSB to a USB 2.0 stick, it will take painful hours to finish, this on quadcore desktop. But it you install it to a USBby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Thank you so much sir(s), great information right when I need it. Ubuntu and UbuntuStudio are incoming and we'll see how that looks. Years ago, not long after Ubuntu was first released, I was persuaded to install and keep upgrading over like 5 years. I used it rarely and as a Windows fallback if something went wrong. This former Hospital ThinClient, left to its own devices is locked down, but someone forgot Firefox's Open > File, and voila LOL The immediate xorg.conf yielded this: #!/bin/sh XORG_ROOT="/usr/Xorg" XORG_CONF=$XORG_ROOT/conf KEY='Software\CompuMaster\X' cat $XORG_CONF/options.part.conf cat $XORG_CONF/input.part.conf /usr/X11R6/applets/kbdcfg -X $XORby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I'd changed from Chrome to VESA driver last week, and it did make a slightly better difference, but it wouldn't roll back today, and I used a Linux Device Manager. All good now I put the USB stick into my desktop and restored the .bak file. Now, this ThinClient has a factory 10ZiG Linux on NAND. I never go into that because it's so locked down. Obviously there are some hardware configurations that are too low-spec to play a video, but when you dual boot and one flies and the other loses sync quick, you may start to wonder if Linux requires higher end hardware or if anything can be done. Not trying to get 4K - 720p ought to be fine. The hardware I'm running is a 10ZiG ThinClient (VIA VX900 chipset) with chrome graphics. With Windby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic

My kind of topic :-). Just to be able to run bootable USB 3.0 sticks makes this an incredible value. There have been droolable quad core combos like this for around $20 higher lately, some Intel. What a great time to be a geek! For what it's worth, this year I'd LOVE to get: 2 x Orange Pi Ones as Pogo E02 replacements and 2 x like the one described here but quadcore Ditch aby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Okay, attached is the result from AV Linux running live off USB stick. I'm really amazed by this - not even in failsafe mode the Live booted up as fast as my desktop quadcore, on a tiny 10ZiG. When it comes to Linux with a GUI, if only I steal my favorite screensavers from Mint XFCE, I'd ditch mint and spend my days on Debian and AV (both are Debian if it came down to it). Seemed like the Off Topic forum would be a safe place to brainstorm out loud if anyone else hasn't quite processed how little Pi computers can increase the quality of life and have fun getting there. 1. Some Pogoplugs (E02 and v4 Mobile) it's possible to swap Debian USB sticks and it'll boot, same basic chipset. Are any of the Orange Pi models' chipsets close enough tby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I almost ordered it, package #5 with an Orange Pi (1G RAM), power supply and case. (thought it had heat sink, no, but I probably have one here). Apparently AliExpress don't take PayPal and that's where my $35 resides. If anyone knows a workaround do tell. I could use one of these to either make a comfortable neighborhood UBB server and/or a TV box, but for the money I could have aby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Allwinner A10
I'm pennies away from trying to order one, again it'll matter if AliExpress needs the deceptively-named address confirmation. So here's the $64K question: the only glaring bottleneck as I see it, is the 100Mbit ethernet. Would one of those Gigabit to USB adapters get 30-40MB bandwidth instead of 10-ish? Gents, as you can see I'm getting worse conveying ideas lately, likely due to a whopper of a cold, the kind that last a month. But with that tiny power supply, lately I've spied spindown wattage at 1.4 watts and the USB 3.0 card is still hooked up with nothing plugged into it. When it spins up, it's about 18w for a second or two and levels around 10-ish.by JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
Yes the little power supply has the same molex receptacle pinout as an ATX. A 5v, ground, ground and 12v. When you buy one of the kits above there's a standard SATA power adapter they throw in for 3.5" hard drives. Consider it the same as most desktop power supplies, except there's one connector and not several. BUT, I dug up a splitter, turns that into two receptacles (theyby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
I'd thought they were stuck at 10 watts consumption and it wasn't the power supplies, it's real likely the USB 2.0 is set to consume that much, Here's a random low-priced USB 2.0 converter with power supply. I have a Thin Client that needs 5v for the new USB 3.0 PCIE card, and 5 and 12v to run a 3.5" hard drive. At first I tried an older ATX power supply, short greenby JoeyPogoPlugE02 - Off-Topic
